Few institutions are as deeply woven into the fabric of Miami as @MDCollege, where education, culture, and community intersect every day. That is why I am especially proud to see MDC recognized four times in the @miaminewtimes Best of Miami 2026 issue! Best New Museum: The @FIFAWorldCup Museum’s UNIDOS Exhibition at the Freedom Tower, bringing the world’s game and its stories of connection and unity to Miami. Best Festival: The @MiamiFilmFest, one of the nation’s premier film events and a platform for storytelling, creativity, and global dialogue. Best Author: JJ Colagrande, talented Wolfson Campus English professor, recognized for his debut short-story collection, "Are You Hungry?" Congratulations on this well-deserved honor. Best Trend: The return of historic cultural institutions, including MDC’s Tower Theater and the Olympia Theater, helping breathe new life into some of Miami’s most treasured landmarks. These recognitions reflect the role Miami Dade College plays in the cultural and civic life of our community. From the Freedom Tower to the Miami Film Festival, from our classrooms to our theaters, MDC serves as a place where ideas are explored, stories are told, and connections are made. Thank you to Miami New Times for recognizing the people, programs, and partnerships that help make Miami one of the most dynamic and creative communities in the world. Congratulations to everyone whose work made these honors possible!
