My new feature in @mubinotebook on Kurosawa Kiyoshi's new film The Samurai and the Prisoner is out today! Rather proud of this one (link below).

i'll give Iñárritu this: he never made a film as evil as Birth of a Nation, nor did he follow it up with a movie halfway designed as a fuck you to the NAACP for calling him a racist
It's very ironic for a self-described democratic socialist to be mocking the film and caring about what they "teach" in business "school."
John Leguizamo’s mockery of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two weirdly pisses me off. I’m a massive fan/defender of Leguizamo. I’ve always admired his social advocacy. But what was the point of this? To bring down another movie that paid its cast & crew during COVID? Even otherwise, you’re at a public event with other artists - why tear down artists who aren’t in the room? I’m not going to fucking cry about it, but it definitely offends me.
How many bisexual and gay movies did Anne Hathaway make for this year? 🫨😵💫🥺
Anne Hathaway (who is more beautiful with each passing year, btw) hit her 40s and stopped giving a fuck and I adore her more with each clip.

Their strategy to try and re-create 1970s New Hollywood by giving auteurs carte blanche was probably the most admirable thing movie execs have done in decades. And De Luca writing the script for Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness will always have him being cool in my book.

I always wonder about guys like this. Like do you think there were guys talking like this about Vertigo and Johnny Guitar too? ptdr
My wife is really high on oxy right now and is ranting very emotionally about being the most "blessed bisexual." So yeah. #BlessedBisexualAutumn
‘DIGGER’ debuts with a C+ on CinemaScore.
One of the lowest CinemaScores of Tom Cruise’s career.

I think this film needs a director's cut. At least if what I've heard about bad test screenings resulting in heavy changes to the sequence of events in the film is true.
This is the review, although I will say that I don't think it's my best writing either on or off Letterboxd! Nevertheless, always tremendously flattering (and humbling) to receive such effusive praise.

This one. Heavily panned at the time for being "unrealistic," only for the Epstein files to come out and show that it was anything but (as if the pedophile cabal it is loosely based on wasn't enough already). And yet now billions are reappraising it as excellent.
