Great to help in a bird ringing demo @Ness_Gardens today with @MerseysideRG & @RoseFroud. Lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves & even better to catch many healthy Greenfinches. A species we’ve not ringed at these demos before – at North West, England

I am continually astounded by birds. Being a bird ringer, I get to know these birds on an individual level, and this moulting adult Grey Wagtail is now one of these. Caught in Norfolk today but ringed in 2019 as a fledgling in Cheshire! Birds are amazing. @MerseysideRG

3cy+ male White-spotted Bluethroat trapped and ringed at Woolston Eyes this morning. The second Cheshire record of cyanecula (first also from Woolston).
Can't be many sites that casually offer 14+ Garganey and 12+ Black-necked Grebe as back-up cast...

Good fun checking for #colourringed #Cormorant on Hale Decoy last night. 33, 34, 49, 50, 51, 66 (orange/red) all ringed as pulli this year at Hale. Annoyingly a yellow ringed (Rutland or Notts scheme?) bird wouldn’t give up its code #patchbirding
