The observation was real, but the explanation of the Hajos–Parrish NLE was wrong. If interested in the actual explanation, read Blackmond’s work, which changed the picture completely (Nature 2006, 441, 621–623). One more reason she should have been among this year’s awardees.
Just a quick search of “Blackmond nobelprize” suggests that you are not alone.. @BuresGroup @ChemBark @kpurkayastha @professor_dave The knowledge behind the phenomena would not be even close to where it is today without her multiple breakthroughs!
