Peter Luke Smith (44) from England appeared in court today charged with damaging the Big Fish.
He was detained by the Community Rescue Service close to the scene.
Peter with no address, was refused bail.
He was found with a hammer and a hatchet.
Peter came to Belfast from England last week, where he had been receiving psychiatric care.
