For over 30 years, @McCourtLaw injury lawyer Mark McCourt has been an avid advocate for innocent Albertans injured by reckless or drunk drivers, fighting for victims' rights against powerful auto insurers. Call us if you've been hurt by a careless driver. We are here to help you.
Time for an 🫒branch. After our threat to join the seppies, we've done a full 360 on this issue: If @ABDanielleSmith preserves the tort rights of all Albertans permanently injured by reckless drivers, we'll cheer her on at the @Alberta_UCP AGM this month! mccourtlaw.ca/b/alberta-auto…
Hear, hear, @echipiuk! 👍
Here's another great quote from the Supremes: "Lawyers should not be expected to behave like verbal eunuchs. They not only have a right to speak their minds freely, they arguably have a duty to do so." - Doré v. Barreau du Québec #FREEDOMOFSPEECH 💪😎⚖️
“The right of the people to discuss and debate ideas forms the very foundation of democracy.”
Those are not my words. They are words written by judges of the Supreme Court of Canada in Harper v. Canada.
Yet something deeply unhealthy is happening in our public discourse.
The right to question power is not a threat to democracy. It is the very thing that keeps democracy alive.
So go ahead—be a bit of a rebel-rouser.
Get educated. Get involved. Ask tough questions. Make those in power uncomfortable.
History remembers those who stood up and helped move society forward.
Holding government accountable is not radical.
It is not disloyal.
It is not merely our right.
It is our duty.
The question is no longer whether you are allowed to stand up.
The question is: will you?
And from this @McCourtLaw post: "Debate on public issues should be uninhibited, robust and wide-open, and... may well include vehement, caustic and sometimes unpleasantly sharp attacks on government and public officials." - NY Times v. Sullivan, SCOTUS ⚖️ mccourtlaw.ca/b/no-fault-oh-…
In 2022, @jkenney warned Albertans that the lunatics were trying to take over the asylum. They most assuredly did, and they installed this cackling nutter as our Premier. The sooner we uninstall her and return the @Alberta_UCP to its factory settings, the better. #ResignDaniSmith
The @ABDanielleSmith loyalists are rallying around her, turfing separatist @JeffreyRWRath from the @Alberta_UCP (thus violating s. 2.8 of the UCP Code of Conduct) in the faint hope that Dani won't get booed at next month's AGM like she did at the last one: youtube.com/watch?v=LmoGVQ5f…
Dang it, the jig is up! It’s only a matter of time before crack investigative reporter @RickBellwrites blows the lid on the @NDP’s @JeffreyRWRath/@McCourtLaw sleeper cell, set to be unleashed at the @Alberta_UCP AGM in Cowtown next month. You caught us, @ABDanielleSmith! 🤣#ableg
In the 90s, NDP leader Raj Pannu pioneered the 'Deep Integration Project.'
The plan: put agents into every UCP EDA across Alberta and help them advance.
Rath was an early asset, he showed great promise. He didn't let us down.
You won't believe who else we've got.

Two October 2026 provincial elections: 1. A separatist party won in Quebec with <30% of the vote due to a vote split amongst the federalist parties. 2. In BC, we saw irrefutable proof that a Conservative Party can replace its leader right before an election & still crush the NDP.
How do you like them apples, @FreeAlbertaRob, @McAllisterBruce, @ABDanielleSmith, @BertaProudDad, @CoryBMorgan, @ikwilson, @JeffreyRWRath, @Realcamdavies, @JasonNixonAB, @UCPCaucus, @sahebdullet et al? Food for thought… 🍎 🍏 Now y’all have a blessed Sunday. Peace out! ☮️ #ableg
With the @Alberta_UCP AGM a month away, 💯s registered to attend aren’t sure whether they’ll be going to (politically) bury @ABDanielleSmith or to praise her. Likely depends on whether she stops flipping us the bird and instead respects the will of a majority of UCP members. ⚖️🤔
In advance of next month’s UCP AGM, we’re asking @ABDanielleSmith to self-reflect: if she’ll accept the verdict of an overwhelming majority of UCP members at last year’s AGM (who said NO to her gov’t’s scheme to bring in no-fault auto insurance), then we can have a reset… #ableg

Mom and dad aren't mad, they’re just disappointed that you experimented with separation.
“My @UAlberta Law School classmate (graduating class of ‘90, we’re no spring chickens) @CaulfieldTim has expertly excoriated the @Alberta_UCP’s bozo leader @ABDanielleSmith for her wasteful, farcical joke of a non-binding referendum.” — Mark McCourt #ableg #ResignPremierSmith👋😎
Don’t go threatening us with a good time, @jkenney! That’s not a bug you’ve identified in the Option 2 ointment, it’s a feature of the plan to make Alberta stronger, considering the current leadership of both the UCP & CPC. How’s that for sending a message: loud & clear?🖕#abpoli
To folks thinking of "just sending a message" on the vote to separate.
You'll be sending a message that drives more mainstream voters towards the Alberta NDP, and the Liberal Party of Canada.
The separatist movement will divide conservatives and help elect the left.
How does that make Alberta stronger?
At the '25 @Alberta_UCP AGM, most UCP members (including @McCourtLaw's McCourts) voted AGAINST the gov't's plan to impose on Albertans no-fault auto insurance starting 1/1/27. With the '26 UCP AGM a month & a half away, it's time for our servant leader @ABDanielleSmith to LISTEN.

A Statement of Conscience on October 7
I will not start by saying ‘as a Muslim’ or ‘as an imam’, but as a human being.
On October 7, over 1,200 innocent people were killed in a single day. Families were shot in their homes. Young people out dancing were hunted across open fields. Over 250 people, including children and the elderly, were dragged into Gaza as hostages. I think of a mother hiding in a safe room with her baby’s mouth covered. I think of a father listening as the line went quiet. I think of families who waited month after month for someone to come home, only to receive a coffin. I didn’t need my faith to recognize the evil of what happened. My heart told me first.
But I’m a Muslim and an imam, and I owe the world one honest sentence: what was done that day was a crime against God. God teaches that whoever kills one innocent soul, it is as if he had killed all humanity.
This day has an author: Yahya Sinwar. He planned it, ordered it, and knew what would follow. Every death of that day and war he started rests on him and Hamas leaders who sat in tunnels and foreign hotels and called slaughter a victory. It rests on every Palestinian leader who cheered, excused, handed out sweets, or said nothing. They chose this. They own it.
But Sinwar did not invent himself. He was the fruit of a tree planted almost a century ago by the Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas named itself in its founding charter as the Brotherhood’s branch in Palestine. The Brotherhood’s poison is slow. It arrives through study circles, youth camps, charity boxes, and kind words to lonely young men. Drop by drop, it teaches him that his religion is a political party, his neighbour is his enemy, the Jew is the cause of his sorrow, and God is pleased by rage. By the time the gun arrives, the soul is already taken.
I have seen this poison in mosques where sermons became rallies and young men could recite slogans but not sit still for a verse on mercy. Every people that let the Brotherhood in has paid in blood and ruined generations. It has never built anything it did not first set on fire.
Behind Hamas stands another hand: the IRGC. It was the IRGC’s money, weapons, and training that turned a hateful idea into an army. One calls itself Sunni and the other Shia, and they may curse each other’s creeds, but they are united in what they worship. It is not God. It is power. The same IRGC that armed the killers of October 7 shoots Iranian girls for showing their hair, hangs young men for asking to be free, and has left graves from Tehran to Damascus to Beirut. They speak in God’s name. So did Pharaoh speak in the name of heaven.
So let me say this clearly. Hamas and the IRGC are not merely enemies of Islam. That would be too small a charge, as if their crime were only against us. They are enemies of God. God is the Giver of life, yet they deal in death. God calls Himself the Most Merciful, yet they have made cruelty a sacrament. God honoured the children of Adam, yet they look at a child and see a target or a shield. To murder what God created and sign His name to it is the oldest blasphemy.
And we Muslims have been too quiet. Some of us were afraid. Some told ourselves it was not our business. Some, God forgive them, felt something other than horror that morning and never confessed it. Silence was the soil this poison grew in. I will not add to it.
So on this anniversary, let us say plainly what our scripture already says. The Jews are not our enemies. They are our cousins in Abraham, and their dead were created by the same God who created us. Today belongs to them: the murdered, the hostages, and families who still set a place at the table. To them I say: I am sorry for what was done to you by men who used the words of my prayers. You’re not alone in your grief or remembrance.
The enemies of God are those who murder in His name. We know their names. It is time we said them from our own pulpits, in our own voices, before they speak for us again.
Imam Tawhidi
“If the Israelis practiced pacifism, Hamas and Hezbollah and a fair number of ordinary Palestinians would simply murder them. This is not an opinion. This is what these groups have claimed openly for decades.” — Sam Harris #WeStandWithIsrael 🇮🇱
When someone who 23 yrs ago sided with Albertans injured by reckless drivers now threatens to obliterate the civil legal rights of those vulnerable victims, it should come as no surprise when victims’ rights advocates ask her to cease & desist, or else. Democracy. What a concept!
NEW. EXCLUSIVE. Wow. Just wow. How the world turns. calgaryherald.com/opinion/co… via @calgaryherald #ableg #abpoli #Alberta
That said, credit where due: unlike @NateHornerAB, Premier @ABDanielleSmith’s new Finance Minister @JasonNixonAB and his able, affable Chief of Staff @sahebdullet are amenable to preserving the legal rights of ALL Albertans permanently injured by negligent drivers. Thanks, gents!
