The NDP keeps lying to Albertans because Minister @JasonNixonAB's advocacy for a strong Alberta in a united Canada doesn't fit their political agenda. Here’s the truth:
May 28: "Nixon said he plans to vote for Alberta to stay in Canada." - thealbertan.com/sundre-news/…
Kyle Campbell (NDP) has been an MLA for one day. He has signed the pledge to stand up for Canada.
Jason Nixon (UCP) has been an MLA for 4,145 days. He refuses to sign the pledge to stand up for Canada.
Danielle Smith (UCP) has been an MLA for 1,456 days (this time). She refuses to sign the pledge to stand up for Canada.
Alberta deserves more MLAs like Kyle Campbell who will actually fight to keep Alberta in Canada.

Alberta is not going to leave $10 trillion dollars in the ground. Not a chance.
The west coast oil pipeline will create hundreds of thousands of jobs, generate hundreds of billions for roads, schools and hospitals, and keep our taxes amongst the lowest in the developed world. Here’s how 👇
Please share this with those who have questions about Alberta’s plan to build the new west coast pipeline.

I am deeply honoured to accept Premier @ABDanielleSmith’s appointment to be Alberta’s Minister of Finance and the President of Treasury Board. It is a privilege to serve Albertans as a Member of the Legislature and at the Cabinet table, and I thank the Premier for entrusting me with this role.
I am grateful for the opportunity these last three years, first in Seniors, Community and Social Services and now Assisted Living and Social Services, to have worked on policies that support some of the most vulnerable people in our province. From standing up Assisted Living Alberta and beginning the largest expansion in continuing care in our province’s history, to making record investments in employment support and opportunities for Albertans regardless of their circumstances, I am thankful to the many people who have worked hard to support our government’s vision for the province. I have the utmost confidence that Minister @neudorf_ab will continue to provide strong support for the most vulnerable in our province.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge my predecessor, the Honourable @NateHornerAB, who I have had the pleasure of serving with in caucus since 2019 and for the last five years at the cabinet table. Despite global uncertainty in the last three years, Nate led the strong fiscal management of our province and has been critical to Alberta’s continued success.
I look forward to contributing to our province’s legacy of prosperity in this new role.

With the new Assisted Living Framework, Alberta’s government is relieving pressure on hospitals and ensuring Albertans get the care they need, when and where they need it.
The Framework drives immediate results and ensures lasting improvements to strengthen Alberta's assisted living sector through four pillars:
✅Support aging in place: Expands home care and non-medical supports to help Albertans age well in their homes and communities.
✅Connect patients to the right care: Strengthens pathways out of hospital and into the community for non-acute patients through improved diversion and discharge planning.
✅Modernize funding and foster innovation: Aligns funding to prioritize patient outcomes and ensures dollars follow patients, not beds.
✅Build for the future: Drives the largest continuing care expansion in the province’s history, building capacity to meet the needs of Alberta today and into the future.

After a decade of bad federal laws restricting Alberta’s economy and punishing Albertans, Premier Danielle Smith has signed a landmark energy agreement with Ottawa that will unleash Alberta’s energy industry:
✅ Ends the production cap
✅ Ends the punishing net zero power regulations
✅ Works to triple Alberta’s oil exports to Asian markets
In addition to overcoming 7 punishing federal laws, this agreement is the first step to building a new pipeline, a project that will change the game for Alberta’s economy. I was proud to be part of the province’s negotiating team with my colleague Minister Rajan Sawhney, and to play a part in making this agreement possible.
We are Albertans and we are ready to get to work for a prosperous, energy-rich future. To learn more about the Alberta-Canada Energy Agreement, read here: alberta.ca/release.cfm?xID=9…

This National Housing Day, Alberta has a lot to be proud of.
We're building more homes, faster — and keeping housing affordable while we do it. From record construction to dropping rents, the recent headlines speak for themselves.

It’s an honour to receive my new mandate letter from Premier @ABDanielleSmith.
Albertans elected us to deliver results, and that’s exactly what we’re doing. From building more affordable housing and expanding seniors’ care to making record investments to combat homelessness — we’re getting it done for Albertans.
With this new mandate, we’ll continue that momentum, making life better for Albertans today and building a stronger province for tomorrow.

Frustration is growing with the federal government's rollout of the Canada Disability Benefit.
The application process they have laid out is convoluted and duplicative, burdening Canadians with disabilities and the medical practitioners who serve them.
I am once again calling on the federal government to provide automatic enrolment to clients of provincial disability programs, including Albertans on AISH.
See my letter to Hon. Hajdu, federal Minister of Jobs and Families:
I am writing with concerns about the federal government’s rollout of the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB). As was brought up by myself and a number of my provincial and territorial counterparts at September 2024’s Ministers Responsible for Social Services forum, the federal government’s convoluted application and eligibility process for the CDB is a barrier to access and is causing Canadians with disabilities undue stress.
As predicted, since the CDB application process opened on June 20, 2025, we have heard concerns from Albertans with disabilities who are encountering barriers in applying for the CDB. Many of these barriers are faced when applying for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), which, as you know, is a requirement your government set for CDB eligibility. In order to apply for the DTC, one must have a medical practitioner complete medical assessment forms, the cost of which is a significant barrier for Canadians with disabilities.
When the federal 2024 budget was announced, your government committed to reimbursing individuals for the cost of the DTC medical assessment. This commitment was reinforced during the 2024 Ministers Responsible for Social Services forum, yet no details of this reimbursement model have been announced to date. The complete lack of information from the federal government about how this commitment will be fulfilled is burdening Canadians with disabilities with unnecessary stress and financial hardship as they navigating your government’s convoluted application process.
Given the lack of information from your government, Alberta’s government is stepping up to bridge the gap. We’ve committed to covering the medical form completion costs for eligible Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) recipients, repayable upon reimbursement from the federal government, to support those for which the upfront cost may be a barrier.
In addition to the barrier of the medical assessment cost, the inclusion of questions about a medical practitioner’s history with applicants has deterred some practitioners from completing medical assessments for DTC applicants in the midst of nation-wide family doctor shortage. These barriers are unnecessary, duplicative hoops for individuals with disabilities to jump through and are burdensome for our nation’s already-strained medical system.
As social services are within provincial responsibility, I am once again requesting that the federal government defer to Alberta’s provincial eligibility requirements to streamline access to federal disability supports. AISH clients are already required to submit medical documents to verify the severity and permanence of their condition.
I am calling upon the federal government to uphold the commitment made in the September 2024’s Ministers Responsible for Social Services joint communique to “respect [provincial and territorial] programs and ensur[e] equitable and simple access for those most in need”. As I, and several of my provincial and territorial colleagues called for during that meeting, I am once again requesting that the federal government provide automatic CDB enrolment to active clients of provincial disability assistance programs like AISH. Automatically enrolling clients who access provincial disability supports for the CDB would alleviate the stress and financial hardship these individuals face, reduce the administrative burden on your government, and free up physicians’ time as they would no longer be required to complete the duplicative and time-consuming medical forms required for DTC applications.
Frustration with the current application process is growing. Alberta stands ready to work with the federal government to implement these critical changes – changes being called for not only by Social Services Ministers across the country, but also by persons with disabilities and disability advocates nation-wide.
I look forward to your prompt response.

It has come to my attention that a misleading image is circulating on social media, containing false information about the federal Disability Tax Credit, the Canadian Disability Benefit (CDB), and Alberta’s AISH program. This misinformation has been further shared by Public Interest Alberta in a release sent out to media.
After a thorough review, we believe the 'correspondence' shown in the image being shared has been falsified with the intent to cause confusion and distress.
As a statutory program, AISH remains fully funded and available to all eligible Albertans. Claims that AISH recipients who have not applied for the Disability Tax Credit by June 20th will be suspended or terminated from AISH are unequivocally false.
In March, letters were sent to all AISH recipients outlining steps to help prepare for the roll-out of the CDB. More information will be shared when the federal CDB program launches.
Spreading misinformation about programs that support vulnerable Albertans is not only irresponsible — it causes real harm. Always verify information related to government programs before sharing publicly. For AISH-specific questions, support is available by phone, email, or in person at alberta.ca/contact-aish.

Alberta's government is focused on increasing the supply of housing in our province. In the past 3 years, construction has started on more rental units than were built in the preceding 15 years combined.
The NDP plan to introduce rent control will not work. It will hurt Albertans and make more people homeless.
