I must call out the flood of fossil fuel expansion we are seeing in some of the world’s wealthiest countries. In signing such a surge of new oil and gas licenses, they are signing away our future. Countries must phase-out fossil fuels – fast and fairly.

💧Wetlands are often referred to as the 'kidneys of the planet' because of their vital role in filtering and purifying water. But their importance doesn't stop there. Wetlands play an important role to support and sustain life on Earth. via @RamsarConv

The edge of a #ghostpingo pond that was ressurected <2 years ago. It supports nearly 40 wetland plants, including many mega-rarities. This is a former pig farm where all of the ponds had been filled in. WHAT A RESULT! The most successful form of ecological restoration known?

Eastern fells on a botany ramble this afternoon. Highlights were Sundews and orchids found in various wet flushes. Loads more cool stuff too! #LakeDistrict #Botany

Save the largest known rare bat colony! The Norwich Western Link Road would be disastrous for Norfolk’s wildlife. Nature’s recovery must be a priority, not further destruction. @NorfolkWT @StopWensumLink action.wildlifetrusts.org/pa…

I object to this road project, which will be yet another blow to the River Wensum that's severely impacted by pollution & over abstraction from unsustainable farming & water sector practices. In a climate & nature emergency, how will this road help people & planet? 🌍🦇🐝🐟

The Amazing @Hullccnews Streetscene team got on with the clean up in Hull as soon as we had clearance from our colleagues at @Humberbeat. The idiots who caused all this don't define us, our people & those who work to ensure everything gets back to normal do! #TeamHull 👏👍

This year, 1 August is #EarthOvershootDay. Unfortunately, that means humanity’s demand for ecological resources in a given year has exceeded what Earth can regenerate. Discover why there is still time to ditch this trend and immediate action is crucial: genevaenvironmentnetwork.org…

A huge👏 to all past & current funders, donors & volunteers who’ve supported #BigWindermereSurvey over the last 2 yrs. Your backing has enabled the delivery/dissemination of this important community science initiative. We’re still seeking donations to support the summer survey!

Given over the whole of the front garden to the @Buzz_dont_tweet B-lines pollinators project. A micro-scale approach but transformational gain for nature. It's alive with Invertebrates. Most of the village think I've lost the plot! #NatureGarden
