BREAKING: UN torture expert denounces colleagues Francesca Albanese and Reem Alsalem for denying October 7 atrocities and ignoring Hamas torture of Israeli hostages: “My colleagues said nothing. I felt ashamed. Their one-sided, vitriolic reports added to families’ anguish.”
Dr. Alice Jill Edwards: “The UN had done so little to help them... I felt ashamed. I am still outraged that UN special rapporteurs Francesca Albanese and Reem Alsalem never formally documented these horrors. Instead, both have continued to issue a stream of what I regard as one-sided and vitriolic reports, and hard-to-justify excuses for their lack of attention. That, families and returned hostages have told me, only added to their anguish.”

Roger Scruton recalls the exact moment he became a conservative during the 1968 Paris riots: “When I looked down the street and saw all these rowdy students throwing stones at policemen, I just said to myself, ‘Whatever they believe, I believe the opposite.’”

Hamas’s terrorist network has spent more than two decades infiltrating North American campuses and media. Its stated goal is to hijack the narrative and secure support for terrorism from the broader public. And according to Lara Burns — an attorney, retired FBI agent and current head of terrorism research at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. — Hamas’s strategy worked. nationalpost.com/opinion/ham…

We are shocked that the Nobel committee honored Navi Pillay. Her troubling record on antisemitism and gross breach of ethics in presiding over a notorious UN commission utterly disqualifies her from such an award. The Nobel Peace Prize should uphold universal human rights and reject antisemitism unequivocally. Honoring Pillay without confronting this record undermines those principles and risks rewarding prejudice rather than advancing peace. In July 2021, Ms. Pillay accepted to chair a Pakistani-sponsored UN Commission of Inquiry into alleged Israeli crimes. The rules of due process require that fact-finders in the human rights field be impartial. Yet prior to accepting this post, Pillay had publicly pronounced herself, in extreme terms, on the very issues that her inquiry is mandated to investigate. In June 2020, she signed a manifesto calling on governments to “Sanction Apartheid Israel.” In June 2021, a month before heading the inquiry, Pillay wrote a letter to President Biden calling to punish Israel for the May 2021 war with Hamas. She has made many more prior prejudicial pronouncements. (See: unwatch.org/wp-content/uploa…) This not all. In July 2022, Pillay’s fellow commissioner Miloon Kothari railed against “the Jewish Lobby” and questioned Israel’s right to be a member state of the UN. Mr. Kothari was condemned by the world’s leading democracies, and by top UN officials including Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Astonishingly, however, Navi Pillay defended him. For those reasons, the Mayor of Berlin in 2022 withdrew her support for a town hall event set to honor Navi Pillay, and the award was canceled. By honoring Pillay, the Nobel committee has failed to uphold the principles it seeks to celebrate. International justice depends on impartiality. When an investigator campaigns to punish a country before examining the evidence, she compromises the credibility of both her findings and the institution she represents. Pillay’s defense of a colleague who invoked “the Jewish lobby” is especially disturbing. A human rights leader should recognize and unequivocally reject antisemitic stereotypes. Her response instead helped shield her colleague from accountability. The Nobel committee should have confronted that record before presenting her as a model of integrity. The victims of discrimination deserve institutions that apply the same standards to everyone. Today’s decision sends the wrong message: that achievements elsewhere excuse prejudice against Jews and the abandonment of basic standards of fairness when investigating Israel. That weakens the cause of universal human rights.

Here are the Law Students from @mcgillu celebrating the 3rd anniversary of the October 7th terrorist attacks. Never forget their faces. We won’t and will not stop until each one has a name we can notify the public on.

Let us not mince words in describing what will be forced upon Montrealers tomorrow: disgraceful individuals, lacking a moral compass and with no respect for the thousands of people tortured, attacked, raped, and massacred by Hamas — a recognized Islamist terrorist organization — will celebrate the October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel. This day, which should be dedicated to commemorating and remembering the victims of Hamas, will be hijacked and poisoned by pro-terrorist protests. Their messages, which run contrary to our shared values and way of life, will inevitably descend into hate and violence. We have already raised this issue with the various levels of government, including the City of Montreal. CIJA therefore expects all our leaders to denounce the unacceptable escalations that will inevitably occur. Our thoughts are also with law enforcement and the SPVM, who will have to ensure the safety of Montrealers in the face of the unacceptable. We are counting on the police to put an end to it with the full force of the law as soon as legal boundaries are crossed. Montrealers expect LAW and ORDER to be restored and safeguarded. They refuse to let impunity prevail in the face of hate and violence. #polqc #canpoli #assnat #polmtl

In November 2023, she left—and in an exit email to colleagues, she set out her concerns about the rigour of the organisation’s work on Israel. Since then, dozens of current and former staff from across the sector have come forward with similar accounts. quillette.com/2026/10/03/dan…
