The face of a faceless international bureaucrat: Ivan Contente Marques. He runs a Western Hemisphere gun control program. We pay half his salary. Trump can easily get him sacked. Marques is secretly preparing an international meeting in Panama to implement a 1997 UN gun control agenda - the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) - through a regional convention called CIFTA. The US has not ratified CIFTA, though President Bill Clinton signed it. The @NRA, @GunOwners, and other pro-gun groups have been fighting this for years. The Organization of American States (OAS), where Marques is Secretary for Multidimensional Security, is to run the meeting. The OAS is hemispheric security organization that the US created to fight communism, but which, through neglect, has been taken over by Chinese and other anti-US interests. Marques is a designee of Brazil's Marxist president Lula da Silva. He is a career gun-control militant. He ran the NGO behind Brazil's 2003 anti-gun law and 2005 referendum to ban civilian gun sales, which President Jair Bolsonaro later loosened. The US could easily remove him with some pressure, but it has chosen not to act. The Secretariat for Multidimensional Security oversees OAS efforts across our hemisphere concerning narcotics, counterterrorism, and public security. Of the 34 OAS member states, 31 have ratified a hemispheric convention called CIFTA to administer a 1997 global United Nations gun control treaty, the Arms Trade Treaty. The matter is urgent now because of the secretly proposed OAS security summit set for Panama in November. CIFTA is on the agenda. OAS has kept this secret from the American public. The Trump Administration has huge leverage that it is not using - so far it has surrendered the OAS to Chinese and other Marxist interests because it has had bigger fish to fry. The US funds about half of the OAS annual budget. The entire OAS leadership and bureaucracy are militantly anti-US. They are depending on more American tax dollars to fund their activities. The President, @SecRubio, @WHAAsstSecty, @SenTedCruz and others could use some messaging from NRA, GOA, and others to stop this, to get the Lula proxy fired from the OAS, to put a good person in his place, and to take control of the corrupt and hostile OAS bureaucracy.
