1000% people will / should be talking about @SuthoSharks_FC and @aleaguemen expansion or A1/A2 in the years to come. They’re doing great things!
Shark Park would be an awesome A-League venue and Seymour Shaw is already a great training base + NPL setup.
Why is no one talking about Sutherland Sharks for A-League? Over 3,000 sold out today’s match!

Happy A-League day for those who celebrate!
In the latest episode of Building Blocks I caught up with four AL nuffies - @M1D3V @joekayfootball @Buds_Oneski and Liam Stapleton - to get their thoughts on the league and clubs they love!

You can't manufacture club tribalism.
Shifting the Aus pro pyramid to a "sporting merit first" approach (w/ sensible off-field licence standards) is LONG overdue.
Should have been central to 2019 reform and 2022 "unbundling".
Needs to be at forefront of next strategic cycle.

For many, Saturday night felt like it could be a landmark moment in unification of the game, but is that the way our football leaders view it?
Are they open to seeing a new way forward?

“The A-League could take a $15 million sugar hit… OR you could inject far more interest and dollars with a club like @smfc"
Some ask whether South Melbourne can afford to play in the A-League. @MattyWindley asks whether the A-League can afford NOT to have them.

Last night called for an emergency Building Blocks pod!
@lachieflannigan and I dissected in rapid-fire time everything that we saw on a momentous night at AAMI Park.
What it meant last night, and what it might mean for the future of Australian football

We need stability, but the old saying of “If you're not growing, you're dying.” Is very true as well.
Grow the competition, they’ll grow the value of their exisiting licenses + the competition in general… which gives them more $
I totally disagree with this notion.
Victory fans don’t turn up to NPL either.
Walking through the South fans last night what struck me was there were so, so many non-Greeks. And, there were A LOT of youngsters.
This is sustainable and scaleable.
Replying to @MattyWindley @smfc
Matt half of those fans dont turn up for their npl and or aus championship games. Most were in Greek nt kits or giannis jersies. Its the bandwagon effect every code has
The plan for how clubs like @smfc can come into the A-League - when they prove they are ready on & off field.
Surely last night is proof?
Give others the incentive to move in that direction and then sustainably move towards a form of open pyramid.

There needs to be a convo about licence fees for new franchises - who are speculators buying into a league - versus NPL clubs who have runs on the board with regard to the value they can bring.
The model is ⬇️ - A1-A2.
@smfc can be the trailblazer. The first of many in time.
We have a lot of debate about whether pro-rel can work in Australia.
This is a full plan for HOW it CAN happen.

The interactions interesting here!
Lots of positive, even from Victory & neutral fans.
The one jab is “it’s a once off”.
It’s not. South has a track record over decades of bringing crowds.
And also, tell me, what crowds do Victory get at NPL games? That’s the like-for-like.
So. You can take a ~$15m licence fee as a one off sugar hit.
Or, you can have these guys come in and bring millions of extra dollars into the ecosystem each year by turbocharging interest.
Surely you can’t deny nights like this…

Haven’t seen / experienced vibes like this on Swan Street for a very, very long time!
Victory and South fans everywhere, all up and about. Happily mingling.
Looking forward to it! 😊
