Trump adviser tells me the campaign has “nothing concrete” in terms of voter fraud.

Want to say again that it is insane that a margin of thousands in a few arbitrary geographic units was the difference between victory and defeat for a candidate who won the overall vote by millions (and counting).

Journalists don’t sit down with senior officials to score political points. We do it in the service of asking tough questions, on behalf of our fellow citizens. And then sharing the answers—or lack thereof—with the world.

I think Jon Stewart should run for Congress.

2. Your son meets with the hijackers.
3. Your campaign manager shares route information with them.
4. You are recorded on video saying, "I love truck hijacking."
5. The TVs are in your house.

People: it's "a novelist and painter, Joe Bloggs...". But if you use "the" or omit the article, it's NO COMMAS. "Novelist and painter Joe Bloggs" or "The novelist and painter Joe Bloggs". [Removes pebble from shoe.] Thank you.

Mind blown by etymology, part 38: "magazine" is originally Arabic. ("makzan", storehouse, from "kazana", to store.) Via postclassical Latin, Italian, French, which is all normal, but I'd never have guessed Arabic. Cousins: Spanish almacén, Portuguese armazém. Dang.

Last week, our editors made a conscious call that "whom" looked just too weird, even if strictly correct, on our cover. I wrote about it this week. economist.com/news/books-and…

Noticed that all the traditional virtues-as-names--Faith, Hope, Chastity, Prudence, Clemency--are female. There are also European ones like Irene ("peace"), Merced ("mercy"). Can anyone think of a (commonish) male counterexample? (Mostly thinking of English/European tradition.)
