🌊 Happy #WorldRiversDay!
DC Water’s Clean Rivers Project is helping reduce stormwater and sewage pollution and improve water quality in the Anacostia and Potomac rivers and Rock Creek.
Here’s to protecting DC’s waterways today and for generations to come.
1/2: Collaboration is a term that gets mentioned a lot but yesterday's workshop was genuinely a first-of-its-kind event. It was the 1st time *both* drinking water & wastewater utilities came together to discuss our individual & collective DC regional water supply challenges💧
💧 What does the future of our region’s water supply look like?
This week, DC Water joined @MWCOG and regional water utilities to plan ahead, explore additional drinking water sources and discuss how we can better prepare for changing needs across the region.
2/2 @DCWater @ArlingtonVA @fairfax_water @LoudounWater @WSSCWaterNews @TownofLeesburg @Rockville411 @FredCoGovMD @USACEBaltimore shared our water resilience challenges & mapped out Adaptive Pathways to address. @mwcog & @PotomacCommis brought their experts+@Arup's facilitation👍
Like the Chicago River Swim, the Big Jump highlighted the remarkable transformation of the Chicago River and continued progress in improving water quality throughout the region.

While much of DC was winding down, our crews were working after dark to inspect and secure manholes along the Freedom 250 Grand Prix route. 🏎️ It’s part of months of preparation to protect our infrastructure, keep services reliable and ensure our teams are ready to respond.
Listen to Jun! Watch what you flush! 🚽
Our screens catch a lot. They shouldn’t have to catch EVERYTHING. 🙄
Meet Jun Fang, DC Water’s Manager of Process Engineering, for a closer look at the bar screens at Blue Plains and why plastic, rags and other trash don’t belong in our wastewater system. 💧 #PlasticFreeJuly
Being the host utility for @awwa #ACE26 was an honor. Beyond the conference, the int’l delegations' engagement @dcwater was a great opportunity. We learned from @tocho_suido & their vast network 🇯🇵. Also hosted @DenmarkinUSA+@KamstrupGroup for a sewer energy recovery talk/tour 🇩🇰 – at Washington, DC
As we look back on @AWWA’s #ACE26, a highlight was connecting with @tocho_suido. Though we’re thousands of miles apart, our mission is the same: delivering safe, reliable water. By learning from one another, we better serve our communities. 🌎💧
Back after the holiday weekend, here’s one last look at the view from our West Potomac Park construction site. 😎✈️
