Cross-border + Mexico freight represents a major growth opportunity for freight brokers, but fear of the unknown often keeps them from pursuing. Join Descartes @Tai_Software & Cargado for an educational conversation that separates outdated assumptions from legitimate risks.

Everyone runs into three potential problems moving Mexico freight: 1. They don't think they have the freight. (Ask your customers) 2. They don't know how to quote it. (Use Cargado to quote it) 3. They don't know what carriers to call. (Use Cargado to cover it) I had a lot of fun blending my film school background and Mexico obsession into this @Cargado_ video.

Top complaints on US load boards (DAT, Truckstop etc): Carriers: ghost/stale loads (25-40% already covered), double-brokering/fraud leading to nonpayment, incomplete details or bait-and-switch, time wasted searching/negotiating low rates, high subscription fees. Brokers: unqualified or fraudulent carriers, double-brokering, excessive low-quality calls, weak verification tools, platform downtime and rising costs.

Despite what you’ve maybe seen online, Daejon Love does not currently work at Cargado. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

1. Why wouldn’t you just make this available to all customers rather than trying to upsell us an AI tool? It’s the same data and functionality, I just don’t have to wander around in your app to do it anymore. 2. Using a vercel link seems like a JV move.

I think the release of Bun 1.4 marks the end of programming as we know it. Anthropic and OpenAI developers live in the near future and if we pay attention, it's what's coming for the rest of us by next year: pauldix.com/the-end-of-progr…

B-1 capacity didn’t “disappear," it just got cleaned up. Enforcement against cabotage tightened fast (and now gets caught at the crossing), and ~20,000 Mexican driver visas were reportedly revoked in the last year. Yet cross border freight still moves, because B-1 drivers aren’t a loophole. They’re the carrier-base.

I tried explaining what AI is to my 5.5-year old recently when I realized it doesn’t matter. He has no clue what life was like using a phone or computer where you couldn’t just get the exact answer you needed right away. Now his immediate reaction when he wants to understand something new he just discovered is to say “let’s ask Chat(GPT)!” I’m so excited for my kids to grow up with this technology being native to their experience. And maybe soon, Siri will catch up. (Although he does know how to tell Siri what song to play next)

I recently intended a wedding in Long Beach and it included a harbor cruise. All we saw were container ships and container containers. It was my favorite thing ever everyone else is really confused as to why I was taking so many pictures of containers.

I listened to this episode of The Freight Pod when it came out last March, but @MattSilver reminded me that I needed to rewatch it. The message within is very relevant for where we are in the industry right now. The freight brokerage of 10 years ago is certainly not the norm of what we have operating today. "Their idea was if they write an app that can move freight with no hands, you don't have to pay the people. So you don't need a margin basically, or you need a very small margin, but that's not what brokerage is."
