As of October 1st, states must pay 75% of SNAP’s administrative costs vs 50% when the law was first enacted a year ago.
We asked several scholars who study the SNAP program closely to shed light on the implications these cuts will have on workers, families, and economic growth.

Four young people taken by ICE at Tweed and Bradley in three weeks. No criminal records. All here legally. Held two to three weeks, then released, because there was never a case to begin with. Per CT Mirror, 800 have been taken at US airports.

Unfortunately for Republicans, the situation is very easy to describe:
1. Trump won a cost-of-living election
2. Then he publicly announced a plan to raise the price of imports
3. Then he even-more-publicly started a war that raised the price of gas
4. Meanwhile, he got rich on crypto scams, while engaging in downright Pynchonian misadventures with the reflecting pool and ballroom, which sent the unmistakeable signal that "I care more about random bullshit than America's money problems ... and also I'm not even good at executing on the random bullshit"

That's a lot of speakers to spin an economic disaster!
Since Trump was elected:
- gas prices are up 33%
- over 100,000 manufacturing jobs lost
- 21% jump in those without health insurance
- tariffs costing every family $1,100 a year
- student loan delinquency up 20%

The average price of gas is $4.15 a gallon today. ⛽️

Trump spent July bragging about Freedom Fuel. The stations sold gas at $3.47 a gallon, and he called the owners patriotic retailers who were doing it because they love the U.S.A. The White House even posted a video of people thanking him at the pump.
Everybody in the industry asked the same question. How do you sell forty cents under market after Iran spiked prices and still keep the lights on?
A supplier just filed what looks like the answer. Mansfield Oil says a New Jersey company called KRSM, run by Syed Kazmi, lifted more than a million gallons off its account at a Pennsylvania terminal between late May and early July. That load was worth about $4 million. Then KRSM did not pay.
Mansfield’s lawyer says some of that fuel went to at least ten stations listed on Freedom Fuel’s own website. The lawsuit puts it this way: “KRSM was able to sell such fuel for such low prices and garner such publicity because it never paid Plaintiff for such fuel.”
Kazmi says it is an invoice dispute. That would be easier to believe if the same family did not already have a default judgment for taking hundreds of thousands of gallons from another supplier and failing to pay that bill too.
The White House says it had zero contact with Kazmi. Fine. They still put the presidential seal on a $3.47 stunt nobody could explain, then acted surprised when the wholesale invoice came due unpaid.
You do not need a conspiracy for this. You need a credit account and a Truth Social post. Cheap gas is easy when somebody else is holding the invoice.

Nancy Wyman passed away this morning. Many in politics will remember her for her enormous, generous personality. And those red high heels.
1/ But she was so much more. I want to share a story that few know: how Nancy Wyman saved the Affordable Care Act.

Listen to AOC. Luke Bronin is NOT the change we need. He is the candidate his AI data center billionaire backers want.
Vote JOHN LARSON ON ROW D today to elect a battle-tested champion who has always, and will always, fight for the working class.

Progressives are gaining ground across the country, and the ultra-wealthy are flooding this race with millions in dark money. They know I won’t compromise on progressive values, and that’s exactly why they’re coming after us. We’re ready for the fight.

Will a Medicaid enrollee who suffers from seizures and addiction, and became homeless after losing his job, be able to navigate the process to prove he's too frail to work? That's the kind of question hanging over the implementation of a new Medicaid work requirement. @K_Hought
Some states that have long wanted to pass Medicaid work requirements planned to excuse people without steady housing from the rules. But the federal government said that’s not happening. @K_Hought reports⤵️

25,000 CT residents lost SNAP due to new federal work requirements, including veterans who used to be exempt. We’re not leaving them behind. Starting today, eligible residents can get a $300 grocery benefit through their local community action agency. No one should go hungry while they work to get back on track.

Honored to have Sen. @mattlesser's support, to deliver for Middletown, and to stand on the right side of history. I'll never back down in the fight to protect Social Security and Medicare, and to defend working families against Trump, Musk, and the corporate billionaire class.

I absolutely agree with Rep. Ocasio-Cortez: Democrats must be unflinchingly pro-working-class. Voters need to be wary of corporate Democrats like Luke Bronin who are trying to move our party to the right.

Why is it ‘cancelled’ in the U.K. but ‘canceled’ in the U.S.?
Because we gave them that L in 1776.
