"Sharjeel Imam calls the Constitution fascist, secularism a trap and democracy a tool to deny Muslims political rights. He rejects liberalism as majoritarian propaganda and accuses Nehru of fabricating the myth of an ancient, unified Indian nation in The Discovery of India."
No storm has been kicked up over Sharjeel Imam’s pronouncements that are so unapologetically anti-liberal, anti-secular, anti-democracy, anti-Constitution—in a word, anti-national.
He openly calls the Constitution fascist, labels secularism a trap, and denounces democracy as a contrivance to deny Muslims their political rights. He dismisses liberalism as a ploy for majoritarianism, and accuses the presiding deity of the liberal pantheon, Jawaharlal Nehru, of falsehood and myth-making for projecting an ancient, unbroken, unified Indian nation in his book, The Discovery of India. He has long disparaged Mahatma Gandhi as the biggest fascist of the 20th century for deploying the term Ram Rajya, and views the “Nation of India” as a fascist project.

During Ajmal Kasab's trial, public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam (now with the BJP and Rajya Sabha member) spread lies about Kasab demanding chicken biryani while in jail to shape Indian public opinion as desired by the State. He himself admitted to it.
In present times, IPS officer Huda, who writes a column under the pseudonym ibn khaldun bharti, provides similar services for the present regime, as his hit job on Sharjeel Imam's interview shows--manufacturing public consent for perpetual denial of his bail.
As far as Imam is concerned, he is extremely well-read, perceptive and fearless for his age. My contrary views on religion and political Islam notwithstanding, there is much to agree with his assertions on Hinduisation of Indian politics, well before the emergence of the BJP or the BJS.
I have written about it in #TheHindiHeartland in the chapter on Indian freedom struggle.
Before me, historians likes Gyanendra Pandey, Pratinav Anil, Manan Ahmed Asif etc., had written about it.
In fact, in 1997, Vasudha Dalmia had written a book titled The Nationalisation of Hindu Traditions, in which she showed how Hindu practices came to be positioned and regarded as national culture leading to the imagination of India as a Hindu country.
Imam is only saying what everyone knows but pretends otherwise

What exactly is Sharjeel enjoying?
That wasn’t even the point I was making. The fact that certain institutional critiques were raised in the Constituent Assembly does not automatically validate every argument made in their name today. There is a fundamental distinction between critically examining the Constitution to strengthen democratic principles and rejecting constitutional democracy, secularism and the very framework of equal citizenship. Ironically, even Sharjeel Imam enjoys the fundamental rights and constitutional protections guaranteed by the very Constitution he appears to reject. His right to dissent, hold unpopular views and to receive due process flows from that constitutional framework. Historical precedent doesn’t invalidate intellectual scrutiny and disagreement is not historical amnesia.

Homes of nearly 700 people have been demolished near Race course mosque. Just a reminder that this mosque is near the PM of India's residence. so this wasn't done by orders some ant-shant RSS worker within the state machinery. This was done under the direct watch of the PM.

Everyone is pissed at Sharjeel bcs he forced ppl to see things as it is. Like a judiciary which runs to appease majoritarian sentiment, strengthens apartheid laws. & A constitution which is so executive friendly that it gives 10 rights to the citizens & 100 to the govt.

ECINet, the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) comprehensive digital platform, has a feature through which viewing of enumeration form details is enabled State by State. This means that access for State Nodal Officers (SNOs) could be switched off anytime making it a centralised platform, according to an audit by ‘Charchagram’, a civic tech initiative.
