The question that drives our research @yalenus is to gain a better understanding of how #brains operate and generate #behavior; #mechanisms.

Our new manuscript describing gene multiplexing (using RAM-FISH) is finally out... We profiled multiple known and novel mRNA candidates during different developmental stages of Bicyclus and Danio. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… @MonteiroLab @MathuruLab

Very glad and honoured to have our work featured by @astar_research. Shoutout to the people in my lab who are working hard on the projects I describe!
We barely think twice about the humble fruit flies buzzing atop the kitchen table. But for A*STAR scientist @SAw_Lab, they could be the key to understanding neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Learn how in the interview: bit.ly/3fs2yDf

I want to talk about how I got here, as too often we take things for granted and forget the fights that made them possible. 1/n

Our paper on olfactory behaviors in adult #zebrafish is out. Briefly, zebrafish exhibit individual variability of olfactory behaviors. We found a novel alarm odor "fish blood", which elicit behavioral and neural responses similar to "skin extract ". bmcbiol.biomedcentral.com/ar…

The final (!) chapter of my PhD work with @Engertlab is now on BioRxiv, demonstrating how social context modulates the #zebrafish oxytocinergic circuit to regulate both defensive behavior AND appetite. Chemosensory, rather than visual cues seem to be more effective at this stage
Social isolation modulates appetite and defensive behavior via a common oxytocinergic circuit in larval zebrafish biorxiv.org/cgi/content/shor… #biorxiv_neursci
