The SAT and ACT are facing what could be the greatest challenge in their histories, which stretch back to the early 20th century. to.pbs.org/2M2ts7E (via @hechingerreport)

I love tutoring because not only do I help kids learn the content, but I help them deal with the emotional complexity of taking a 3 hour exam. I also focus on preparing for it in a healthy way. No use being burnt out on test day

Many colleges know this, and they put less importance on the ACT / SAT. But it still stresses the hell out of students and parents. I hate seeing kids being stressed out

Students tend to underperform on standardized exams because they are so different from most existing school exams. It’s almost unfair because if you’re not being tutored, you’re at a huge disadvantage

I'm so proud of my students. They are really putting in work in anticipation of the next ACT exam which is coming up soon. Love seeing progress

#Juneteenth highlight is Shareef Jackson @ShareefJackson! Shereef is the founder of Math Looks Good, LLC! A tutoring service in physics and mathematics. He was a data analysis prior to starting his own company.

I definitely prefer the old school way on the right BUT as someone who has tutored many kids, they are awful at keeping track of borrowing in a multi step multiplication problem. I can see the usefulness and how it translates into dealing with factoring polynomials in algebra

what is dark energy?
let’s call the Universe a loaf of raisin bread, & the raisins galaxies. when bread rises, the raisins separate, & the Universe “expands”. contrary to our intuition, the loaf gets bigger more & more quickly. dark energy is akin what’s fueling that expansion!

Student came to class today with his child due to no babysitter or anybody to watch her while he was in class.
My professor NATHAN ALEXANDER said “I’ll hold her so you can take good notes!” #HBCU #morehouse #Respect

Related rates and implicit differentiation can be some of the hardest stuff in the differential part of AP calculus. Don’t give up, keep plugging away!

.@ShareefJackson started the @MathLooksGood tutoring service while working at a corporate job. He helps students see that math/science are not abstract concepts. He is also co-host on the @SpawnOnMe podcast.
