“There’s a really, really strong case for proximity to nature influencing health in a really big way,” said Jared Hanley @NatureQuant. Explore the map to see where nature is abundant (and where it's lacking) ⬇️ @Harry_Stevens @washingtonpost #MAstateparks wapo.st/46hwDjG

Yesterday was a full but productive day across Framingham (don't worry Ashland, I have a few full days in Ashland just around the corner). The day started with a meeting with @MassParksForAll and Friends of Callahan State Park on the future of our Commonwealth's state parks.
Nearly 50 people, including @JamieEldridgeMA, @DWGregoire, @MassDCR Commissioner @BrianArrigoDCR, MPA Executive Director @DougPizzi, joined #Marlborough Mayor J. Christian Dumais on a community hike to highlight the importance of access to public spaces!
Ghiloni Park was protected with DCR grants in the 1970s and 80s. The 2mi trail through gentle hills and over boardwalk streams goes through DCR’s Sudbury - Marlborough State Forest. See more photos and read our #EarthDay post here: linkedin.com/feed/update/urn… #mapoli #mastateparks

Great morning in #Marlborough to hike DCR-purchased Ghiloni Park trail with Mayor Christian Dumais & @MassDCR Com. Brian Arrigo with Marlborough residents! TY to the Mass Hiking Project & Mass Parks for All for highlighting DCR parks & push for bigger investments! #GreenBudget – at Marlborough, MA
Thank you Chair @RepMichlewitz and all House Ways & Means members for supporting the funding that @MassGovernor @MassLtGov proposed for the @MassDCR Operations account, and for increasing the funding for the Seasonal Employee account!
This funding, if approved in the final budget, would allow Commissioner @BrianArrigoDCR and @MassDCR staff to continue the progress the agency has made in recent years. #mastateparks #stateparks #mapoli #massachusetts

"Blue Hills is the sight of the original First Day Hike about 33-years-ago, and that phenomenon has taken on a life of it's own. Now most states have their own First Day Hikes, and it's even gone international," said Simon Schreier, @MassDCR #MAstateparks cbsnews.com/boston/news/mass…

This was posted a few weeks ago but just came to my attention. Of course it's about history from more than a century ago, and about something that's quite relevant today. Interesting comparison made here between the Trustees and DCR. commonwealthmagazine.org/opi…
