To be clear, this isn’t a story of Alec Guinness being homophobic. Alec Guinness was bisexual and was arrested for cruising when he was younger. This is a very sad story of how queer people had to hide themselves and assimilate into a deeply homophobic industry.

This cost them about $1 trillion.
The truth is, you cannot build systems like this exclusively on the logic of profit. You cannot expect to break even in 20 or 30 years. Projects of this scale are built because the government decides they must exist to serve the people.
And this is a problem with systems that are strictly, or overwhelmingly, capitalist. If you leave every problem in your society to the spontaneity of the market, some challenges are so large and so unprofitable that you will never have sufficient incentive to solve them.

Heads up XR Unity devs: You can save a decent amount of CPU load by avoiding a very common mistake.
The XR Interaction Toolkit default input actions are used by a lot of people because they start from the XRI template.
However it has a bunch of touchscreen-only input actions that are just wasting your CPU on each frame if you're not doing AR on a phone.
Go remove those and save yourself a few percent of frame time.
