Excited to share our new manuscript @NatureComms in which we propose that genomic amplifications might be selected during tumor evolution to create safe copies of cancer-essential and mutation-prone or -sensitive regions of the genome [nature.com/articles/s41467-0…] 👇
Our observations partly explain cancer type-specific alteration patterns. In addition, we show that genes with a tendency to the be protected from mutations by amplifications are often essential suggesting that our model might reveal important cancer vulnerabilities.
This work was spearheaded by our @fabioalfierii and a great collaboration with @gcaravagna.
