Client: our ad isn't showing anymore. Also the client: googled it 14 times this week and never clicked. Google stops showing ads to people who keep seeing them and don't click, it's in their own help pages.

Nobody has ever woken up excited to fill in the unit_pricing_measure for 3,000 products in your Google Ads feed. It's the little field that tells Google for example your bottle is 70cl, so it can show the price per litre next to it. In the EU it's mandatory for anything sold by weight or volume, and if it's missing your products can get disapproved. FUn! So in most feeds I open it's empty for almost every product, because the alternative is a human being typing "70cl" three thousand times. FeedFixer just fills it. It reads the measure out of the title first, then out of your own contents column if the feed has one, and if both are empty it takes the net quantity from the barcode data. In the screenshot that's 3,304 of the 3,326 products, checked against the whole feed before anything even runs. It sets the base measure along with it, so ml and cl get 100ml, litres 1l, grams 100g and kilos 1kg. Most of the work went into teaching it when to keep its hands off. Sixty tablets is sixty pieces, not the milligrams printed on the box. A bedsheet of 140 by 200 cm has no price per metre, so it stays empty. And it never reads the description, because thats often just noise. Not the most glamorous field in a feed, but I'm happy this one is filled :)

Google Merchant Center now takes product reviews through the API! The help page for uploading a product reviews data source used to say that the API isn't supported for product reviews, and it now says to add them with the Merchant API, next to the scheduled fetch, SFTP, Cloud Storage and manual upload that were already there. @seroundtable picked the change out of the documentation last week. For shops that collect their own reviews this is the difference between a file Google fetches on a schedule and pushing a review the moment it's approved. The star ratings under Shopping ads and free listings come out of that feed, so how often that file gets picked up is how fresh those stars are. It's not a switch you flip though. Product reviews still needs Google to turn the program on for your account after the interest form, and disapproved reviews still have to be cleaned up before anything shows. I'm going through my ecommerce accounts this week to see which ones own their review data and which sit behind an aggregator, because only the first group gets anything out of this.
