New research suggests that environmental constraints could limit the number of eggs that urban female birds lay. 🐦‍⬛ @Mark__Pitt Read the full paper here: buff.ly/3B92WW9

Nothing to see here, just the self appointed head of Twitching, followed diligently by 1000s of birders sharing dates for far right marches. But birding definitely doesn't have any issue with racism or inclusion...

My first PhD paper out now in @RSocPublishing ! Our meta-analysis shows that the impact of urbanization on avian health depends on the health metric, life stage and level of urbanization. Thanks to everyone who was involved in this study. royalsocietypublishing.org/d…

Nest design in birds has been assumed to be an innate ability, but they can use their experience to be more flexible than previously thought. 🪺 Usually, these studies occur in the lab, but this work is being done in the field by @libby_chaps! #ASABSpring2024

As a strong supporter of public service broadcasting, I want to be able to defend the BBC. But the decision to take @GaryLineker off air is indefensible. It is undermining free speech in the face of political pressure - & it does always seem to be rightwing pressure it caves to

The BBC has decided not to broadcast an episode of David Attenborough’s flagship new series on British wildlife because of fears its themes of the destruction of nature would risk a backlash from Tory politicians and the rightwing press theguardian.com/media/2023/m…

This cannot go on. In every corner of our society, women burden the substantiated weight of being unsafe. Even in nature, a perceived safe place, this burden still holds. We are proud of women and other marginalised groups that are bravely coming out and empowering change.
My pockets are *always* full of nature treasures. Acorns, feathers & even owl pellets (ha). Recently there's been another item my fingers find in there. 3 weeks ago, whilst birdwatching on my local patch, something horrible happened to me. I'm fine & won't go (1/6) #SarahEverard
