In the future, when Labour activists pressure those of us who vote Lib Dem or Green or for other socially liberal parties to vote Labour because they think they are better than the Tories or Reform (and they will - they always do), remember this guy 👇
LBC exclusive 🚨‼️
Deportations and returns is now at nearly 50,000!
Deport, Deport, Deport.
More big news to come…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Mike is, again, including people who chose to voluntarily leave the UK in his figures. At the last pubished data, only 26% of deportations were enforced, and that figure is disputed as the Home Office doesn't routinely publish the data

Our entire political conversation - under a labour government - has taken a huge shift to the right.
We can't let this be normalised.

Incorrect.
There are lots of problems with British policing but the end of operational independence would be a disaster. The regulation of individual powers and practises is far more in tune with the protection of civil liberties.
Er, a police state is when the police are in charge without accountability to democratically elected politicians. If you don’t think the govt should control the cops, a police state is what you want. Ofc the police should make decisions about individual cases without political interference, but matters with political import should be for politicians
It shouldn’t shock me but I keep wondering how some of these British right wing commentators can sleep at night as they whitewash and act as apologists for the Israeli Government’s war crimes from the last 2 years.

Oli Dugmore, "Is Nigel Farage a fascist?"
"Trying to define fascism is like trying to nail jelly to a wall"
"But I would certainly say that if you are advancing a policy program that involves the militarised mass expulsion of an ethnic minority background. That is a component part of fascism"
Victoria Derbyshire, "Militarised?"
Oli Dugmore, "How else are you going to fly 100,000 people a year? How will you round them up? Will the police do that? I don't think they can"
"Are you going to put them on charter flights? Airlines won't take them, so you'll probably use the RAF"
"Where are you going to hold them?"
"Look at what ICE is doing in America as the sort blueprint for this mechanism. They hide their faces, armed to their teeth"
"They look like a militia to me"

This tweet encapsulates the shift in the last few years in what some people think it's acceptable to say. This woman was political editor of the Sunday Times and here she is implying black people can't be British. Utterly disgusting
IN the world according to @Keir_Starmer if I grew up in, say, Somalia, I could credibly claim to be Somalian. Could I? Really? I think that would be laughable.

Ok. They’ve pissed me off.
I’m back to tell you 3 things about ID cards:
1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they don’t work, you do not want that system for you.

Liberal Democrats cannot support mandatory digital IDs. People shouldn't be criminalised just because they don't want to hand over their private data.

ALT “Liberal Democrats cannot support a mandatory digital ID where people are forced to turn over their private data just to go about their daily lives... People shouldn’t be turned into criminals just because they can’t have a digital ID, or choose not to.” — Victoria Collins, Liberal Democrat Science, Innovation and Technology Spokesperson.

❌"I am a Liberal, and I am against this sort of thing", a Liberal Party member told a police man who demanded to see his ID in 1950.
Since then, we've seen the British public reject every government attempt to introduce mandatory ID cards.
🆔Meanwhile, Lib Dem leader @EdwardJDavey considers ABANDONING their long-standing position against identity cards over a new digital ID scheme - this would be a shocking & shameful turn of events.

I joined @LibDems 10 years ago. I’ve worked for the party, campaigned for it and stood as a candidate. Turning on civil liberties and losing sight of the principles of promoting a free and open society would undermine the entire purpose of the Lib Dems for me.
