As the United Nations General Assembly convenes next week around the theme “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All,” one thing is clear: new technologies are only as trustworthy as the Internet beneath them. In a new op-ed, our president and CEO, Sally Wentworth, explains why the Internet must remain open, secure, resilient, and accessible if technology is to serve people everywhere. And why rebuilding trust will not happen by accident—it requires deliberate choices, shared responsibility, and global cooperation. Read the op-ed to learn more about why defending the open Internet is essential to building a digital future that delivers for everyone. ⬇️ project-syndicate.org/commen…

What everyday things can feel exhausting when you live with a chronic illness? Sometimes, the things that seem small to others can take a lot of energy. Be proud of yourself, every achievement counts, no matter how small it may be 💜 #ChronicIllness #HiddenIllness

Next week, our team will be in Kigali to attend the African Peering and Interconnection Forum (@AfPIF) alongside network operators, technical experts, policymakers, and civil society. When #AfPIF began in 2010, African Internet traffic often took a detour around the world to reach neighboring countries. Since then, the AfPIF community has done crucial work to advance the infrastructure and interconnection needed to keep more Internet traffic local, helping to reduce costs, improve performance, and strengthen the continent’s digital economy. Today, that same community is working within countries and across borders to strengthen local infrastructure, build economic opportunity, and expand access to affordable, reliable, and resilient Internet. WSIS is about bringing diverse stakeholders together to address the Internet’s most pressing challenges, and the Internet Society is helping lead those conversations. At WSIS Forum 2026, Internet Society Board Member Victor Kuarsingh reflects on the value of multistakeholder discussions, highlights from his panel on operationalizing digital resilience, and why these conversations matter beyond the forum.

Imagine having to provide a government ID before downloading an app to clock in at work, submit homework, check the weather, or access your bank account. Under a new Texas law, that could become a reality for millions of people. That’s why we led an amicus filing on 24 June with @CenDemTech and @OTI in CCIA v Paxton before the US Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The case challenges the state’s new age-verification and parental consent requirements for app stores. Read more ⬇️ internetsociety.org/blog/202…

There are so many amazing, kind people who work for this football club - and who worked for it and were let go - that unfortunately have had to directly deal with the continuous idiocy from their ownership. Manchester United the institution, and the people who genuinely live, breathe and encompass it, deserve SO much better.
Manchester United prides itself on being an inclusive and welcoming club. We will continue to represent our people, our city and our fans with purpose and pride.

Live Facial Recognition has never been properly debated in Parliament. It is being rolled out without a clear legal or statutory basis. We need robust rules to govern its use, protecting innocent citizens before this technology becomes the norm. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz6e…

Kick It Out statement: Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s comments are disgraceful and deeply divisive at a time when football does so much to bring communities together. In addition to the inaccurate figures mentioned, it’s worth reminding him that Manchester United has a diverse fan base and plays in a city whose cultural history has been enriched by immigrants. This type of language and leadership has no place in English football, and we believe most fans will feel the same.
