BMC has proposed hiking Mumbai cinema entertainment tax from ₹60 to ₹400 per ticket for AC halls/multiplexes about 570%.
Non-AC: ₹45 → ₹200.
Concerts/plays: ₹50 → ₹100.
100% exemption proposed for Marathi & Gujarati films/plays.
Not in force yet. Needs state Urban Development nod. Existing rates continue until gazette notification.
PVR INOX and other exhibitors would pay the higher levy if cleared.

First of all, using huge idols and making this a mass event is not Sanatan; this was started by Bal Gangadhar Tilak as a political tool to unite Hindus against the British in Pune. As per the Shilpa Shastras, any idol that requires Visarjan cannot be larger than 'Chaturtala' or 'Panchatala'. They must be made of clay, and permanent materials cannot be used, as any idol made of permanent material requires Prana Pratishtha. Idols like the one in the video, made of POP, steel, and colours that do not dissolve in water, have nothing to do with the Pancha Bhutas. #GaneshVisarjan #GaneshChaturthi
