Learn to sell to the rich
The top 5-6m households in India represent a very deep profit pool - rich Indians are not catered to by existing fmcg brands who build for the average. Theres a huge opportunity to build scaled profitable brands by sharply addressing this audience 1/n

Till now, the gold standard of customer experience for me was what we created at Urban Ladder in mid 2010s. Happy to see @my_mokobara taking the torch forward. My 2.5 old luggage cracked and they just replaced it without haggling 🥹

Heard an average 10-year-old Indian kid talk like Revant 'FoodPharmer' Himatsingka, but without the hysterics? Here you go 😁 This is good, clean advertising from a brand that consistently focuses on clean ingredients and honest truth in terms of disclosures. Written by Shashank himself, but with a wig (and produced by Harkat Studios), the focus for the new kid's range from The Whole Truth continues be on the ingredients and what the products do not contain. That continues to feel refreshingly different in a country where MNCs continue to advertise everything but that.
So we have shots fired at Bournvita/Horlicks/Boost types (with a direct reference to the much-touted 'taller, sharper, stronger'), Nutella and its brethren, and even Kinder Joy! If anything, the ad should make you take a second look at the ingredients of your usual purchases for your kids (if you haven't started looking already) and then the ingredients of the products advertised here... and continue asking questions about the source of sugar in both (refined sugar/source never mentioned vs. sweetened using dates and palm jaggery), besides every other ingredient in both.
Of course, the true victory will be when, one day, the likes of Mondelez (owner of Bournvita), Hindustan Unilever (Boost and Horlicks' parent company in India), and Ferrero Group (owner of Kinder Joy and Nutella), among others, start realizing that they cannot afford to play this FSSAI-colluded unhealthy game anymore and that they need to come down from their ivory pedestal to start answering some serious questions. I hope that day comes soon enough.

Once you get to a stage where you run your startup profitably, the VC ecosystem practically has nothing to offer you.
Build a business (not startup) that stands on its feet - quickly.

This was an exceptionally cogent articulation from Roelof about the state of venture capital.
"There's a lot more talent than really interesting companies to be built. And I think we're spreading a lot of that talent thin right now."
"Venture is a return-free risk."
This week's Uncapped guest was @roelofbotha, who runs Sequoia.
We talked about his psychology leading the firm, how Sequoia makes decisions, and his views on the state of technology markets today.
Unsurprisingly, I learned a ton. Hope you enjoy listening.

I have been a Wholetruth consumer from day 1 and would have gotten at least 100 people to try their products. Even switched whey from ON and MB when they launched
Today got this as I am part of their community of most loyal users
What I love is they are building a brand and business by doing exactly opposite of the playbook used by FMCG giants to build large F&B brands
People keep saying community don’t matter and people don’t share these things. But try and do things worth sharing, you will be surprised how many people actually share
Keep it up @twitellectual and team. You are building a beautiful brand and business thinking from first principles. The sky is the limit

I'd attribute the success of The Whole Truth whey in part to the packaging.
The 'protein ka dabba' carries a strong association with ripped bodybuilder dudes.
The dabba is a strong turn-off for the new crop of protein consumers. TWT is approachable.
