Our key takeaway: If governments want to rely on voluntary compliance in polarized societies, they’ll need to invest in building trust—not just in institutions, but between citizens.

Absolutely mind boggling 70 seconds clip of how many time rockets and drones were launched at Israel over the last year since October 7 Notice massive salvos from Gaza & Lebanon in the first days of war That isn’t normal and no country should ever tolerate it. So Israel doesn’t

Nasrallah was *my* terrorist. Each one of us grows up watching a terrorist on TV threatening to kill us. For many Americans, it was Osama Bin Laden. For me, it was Nasrallah. I grew up in Northern Israel. Every few years, Nasrallah would target us with a barrage of rockets. His rockets would be directed at nearby Jewish towns, but of course they miss and fall in Muslim towns in Israel. My town was one of them. Imagine the irony. US college students can not understand this. *My* terrorist is dead today. It's great news not just for me, but for many Syrians, Lebanese, Saudis, and..Israelis. I am naively optimistic. But I hope today sends a signal to people in the Middle East that moderation, acceptance of reality and coexistence is the only way. Terrorism way will always end up in failure. Always. Even if it takes 32 years to arrive.

Bizarrely, I am being criticised for saying that it is a good thing that Israeli hostages were released. Look, none of the people killed in Al-Nuseirat would have been killled if Hamas did not hold hostages there, in a densely populated civilian area. None of them would have been killed either if Hamas did not capture the hostages in the first place. The Israeli hostages should never have been taken in the first place. Yes, Palestinians have a long list of grievances with Israel including administrative detention, including the military occupation, including the long and traumatic history of wars and the loss of homes and land in 1948. But did taking civilian hostages ever do anything to address these grievances??? If you want peace, you have to address the legitimate grievances in a coherent way, one that will actually lead to the end of the occupation and not more and worse war. For example, the more violence Hamas enacts, the more that Israeli society will swing towards the far right and toward ideologues like Ben Gvir who offer nonsensical prescriptions along the lines that settlements and military occupation bring security. This, of course, is false. But convincing Israelis to agree to a peace settlement very much depends on convincing them that we actually want peace. As opposed to the Hamas position of "peace" being a temporary phase where they prepare to conquer the rest of the land. Peace has to mean peace. No more war, no more hostages, no more violence.

I was invited to present to the Catalan Gov my research on democratic qualities and trust with @diegobadell. It is my first grant and the first time I am a Principal Investigator. Also it is the first time I study the Catalan gov and society in depth. Many firsts.. very exciting!

No l'hem triada. Avui han tirat bombes sobre la ciutat on visc. Imagineu-vos la gràcia q em fa la guerra. Del que em queixo és de la doble moral d'esperar que Israel no respongui quan és bombardejat desde 5 fronts diferents.

It should by now be obvious that the October 7th attack required long term massive investment in infrastructure of tunnels, military build up, as well as strategic planning and coordination. Perhaps we can now put to bed any notion of the “poor Palestinians” being a charity basket case of hapless know-nothings. The problem was never the capabilities of the Palestinians. They have plenty. It was their priorities. The Palestinian top priority, for over a century, has been for the Jews to have no state and no sovereignty anywhere in the territory between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea (I was told that specifying the river and the sea is necessary these days…). Towards that destructive cause of No-Jewish-State Palestinians have mobilized their efforts, capabilities and resources. Therefore any discussion of sending once more billions of dollars into “Gaza reconstruction” needs to rest on an assurance that the Palestinians - leadership and people - have abandoned their “From the River to the Sea” ideology and are truly interested in pursuing the constructive cause of Palestinian sovereignty next to the Jewish sovereignty - rather than instead of it. One cannot want for Palestinians (a sovereign state in part of the land next to the Jewish state of Israel) what they do not want for themselves. One cannot force Palestinians to turn Gaza into a prosperous model of Palestinian self-governance if they prefer to turn it into a launch pad to “liberate Palestine from the River to the Sea”. Palestinians are not hapless. They simply need to decide the at they prioritize building for themselves rather than destroying for others. Once that becomes their priority, all else will fall into place - including, absolutely, their own sovereign state next to the Jewish state of Israel, and finally - peace.
Over the past several days, Israeli troops in Gaza have found a wide, branching tunnel used by Hamas, roughly 10 feet wide and about 2.5 miles long. The tunnel is the largest uncovered in the fighting so far haaretz.com/israel-news/2023…

In this video a Hamas leader says they will never make peace with the Zionists, and the only answer they have to Zionists is "the sword". Western leftists put all responsibility for making peace on Israel. But Hamas is a HUGE obstacle xitter.cf/LizaRosen0000/status/1…
xitter.cf/ZionWarrior6/sta… Fathi Hammad, leader of Hamas, screams in rage that Hamas will never allow peace with Jews, according to him the only thing they will offer the Jews is beheading with a sword, as he demonstrates with his hand. This is how Palestinian leaders promote war against Israel and the Jewish people. Please if you care about Israel, RT this post!

Palestinian children's TV: - What do policemen do? - They catch thieves and kill Jews - What will you do when you grow up? - I will shoot Jews, all of them When @elonmusk said today that the entire Palestinian education must change, he referred to this.
