Glimpses from the Disha Committee meeting in Midnapore, chaired by me, followed by the Panchayat Review Meeting presided over by Panchayat & Rural Development Minister Dilip Ghosh @DilipGhoshBJP, MoS Sri Santanu Pramanik @Santanuwb01 was also present . Both meetings were attended by members of the district administration, MPs, and MLAs. Discussions focused on reviewing ongoing developmental initiatives, assessing progress, and strengthening coordination to ensure effective implementation of various schemes for the benefit of the people.

Thrilled that Kalaikunda has finally been considered after a long wait under the UDAN scheme. Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s vision of taking air connectivity to every part of India and making air travel accessible to the common citizen gave birth to UDAN — Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik. It is heartening to see this vision reaching Kalaikunda. As the MP of Midnapore Parliamentary Constituency, I am especially delighted as Kalaikunda falls within my constituency. This will bring new opportunities for connectivity, tourism and economic development for our region. This abandoned pony is yet another victim of the joyride industry. This rescue shows what can be achieved when authorities, animal protection groups, and citizens act together .I thank @PetaIndia for never giving up on this pony and Animal Rahat for housing the pony. I would also like to thank the District Magistrate of Paschim Medinipur, Shri Bijin Krishna, IAS; the Superintendent of Police of Paschim Medinipur, Smt. Papiya Sultana, IPS, the Sub-Divisional Officer of Kharagpur, Shri Bhuvana Pranith Pappula, IAS, the Deputy Director of the Animal Resources Development Department (Kharagpur), Dr. Chinmoy Chakraborty, and the Inspector-in-Charge (IC) of the Kharagpur Town Police Station, Shri Amit Kumar Mitra, for their prompt intervention in the rescue operation. I urge the public to help other ponies by choosing animal-free forms of entertainment.

I have submitted a prayer/request to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal to initiate a dedicated “Rabies-Free West Bengal” programme, beginning with Midnapore as a model. I am grateful that the Hon’ble Chief Minister has assured me that he will definitely look into the matter.@SuvenduWB As the Member of Parliament from Midnapore Lok Sabha, I wish to take this initiative forward with the support and guidance of the State Government. The programme should focus on systematic sterilisation and anti-rabies vaccination of street dogs, scientific population management, stronger veterinary facilities, prevention of dog-bite cases and public awareness. My commitment to animal welfare and public health has already been reflected through initiatives in my constituency. Earlier this year, I inaugurated an Animal Rescue Centre established with MPLAD funds. During my last visit to Midnapore town, I also inaugurated an Animal Ambulance, again supported through MPLAD funds, to strengthen animal rescue and emergency care. I believe Midnapore can become a model for the entire state, demonstrating that compassion, scientific action and public health can go hand in hand. Rabies is preventable. This is the need of the hour. Together, let us work towards a Rabies-Free Midnapore and, ultimately, a Rabies-Free West Bengal.
