The single stupidest concept in all of marketing (in a strong field) is that "brand" is a channel or a content format.
The endless, ridiculous back and forth between brand and performance marketers is so dumb
Tell engaging stories in places where your audience pays attention

There’s a lot of debate out there around if you should copy your competitors ads.
I tend to sit in the camp of using them for research and inspiration.
Pure originality is expensive and requires a lot of time and capital investment.
If you could see the exact creative others were running successfully, why wouldn’t you leverage that?
I just started using a tool called @MagicBrief for all my competitive research and it’s game changing.
My favorite feature is that they have ad types grouped with examples of how other brands are running them.
If you want to actually level up your ads though here’s what you should do.
Find your favorites then brainstorm ways to take it to the next level.
Frankenstein some ad styles. Combine memes with us vs. them. Use a Microsoft paint ad to create a feature benefit.
There’s endless ways to iterate AND innovate on this stuff.
Use tools like this. Just don’t get lazy.
The media teams out there still flexing their own creative ideas are the ones that will raise above the rest.

Here's 7 I wanted to share:
magicbrief.com/ - Using for ad briefing
usebutter.com/ - Using for turning those briefs into ads
hoppycopy.co/ - DTC-centric copy assistive tool
unicorn.studio/ - new no code web GL tool
magnific.ai/ - Image upscaling (great for gen AI)
air.inc/ - asset repo with transcribed audio for searching videos
storyclash.com/ - finding influencer/creators at scale
chatgpt.com/ - use for copy, and doc translation
perplexity.ai - use for research and deeper searching
QUESTION:
What is really sticking for creatives and operators in DTC, eComm, and agencies. If you’re regularly using AI-assisted / GenAI software drop in any links, or questions! 👇

Your competitors are looking at your ads for inspiration.
Make ads that make them nervous to be in the same category as you. Create content that your competitors want to replicate. This way, you will always be one step ahead.
