𝐀𝐈 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐌: 𝐓𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐎𝐑 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐃𝐄?
Lecturers say one thing.
Students say another.
And AI is sitting there like: “You called?” 😭
This is not your usual classroom debate.
At the Hub Unconference, we’re putting lecturers and students in the same room to get into the real questions:
🔴Is AI helping us learn or helping us skip the learning?
🔴Where does “using a tool” end and cheating begin?
🔴Are we becoming smarter with AI or just faster at avoiding the hard parts?
And if you’ve ever been to the Hub at Shoko Festival, you already know…
Things can get VERY interesting😊
Come for the debate.
Stay for the chaos.
Leave with your opinions thoroughly challenged.

And who better to keep the room locked in than Sharon Chideu, stepping in as moderator.

Gen Z isn't waiting for a seat at the table, they're building a new one, online, in real time.
From Twitter threads to WhatsApp organising, from TikTok explainers to Instagram campaigns, young people across the continent are building the future in digital spaces every single day.
Every hashtag campaign, every organising chat, every livestream from a protest, that's the civic infrastructure now.
And defending that space is no longer optional.
Join @Nafasi_Africa today. Let's protect the frontline together!

A voice does not truly count simply because it is heard. It counts when it can influence decisions.
People cannot participate freely when civic space is restricted, journalists are censored or human rights defenders are targeted.
When every voice counts, democracy delivers.

A vendor in Harare CBD says she has nowhere else to go. Her entire family depends on what she earns each day.
“I am the Wicknell Chivhayo of my family. I take care of orphans. If I stay at home, the whole family will suffer.”
For her, vending is not a choice — it is survival. #Harare

Today the RFLD office in Accra welcomed Shupikai Gwabuya, Network and Engagement Coordinator at CIVICUS, together with colleagues from the CIVICUS team.
We used the visit to take stock of the work we already carry together. RFLD sits with CIVICUS in two consortia, CHARM Africa and NAFASI, and both have given us a concrete way to accompany women's rights organisations and grassroots movements across Africa at a moment when civic space is under real pressure.
We also spoke about the Vuka Coalition for Civic Action, where RFLD serves on the Steering Group for the 2025 to 2028 term. What makes Vuka worth the investment of time is that it keeps the defence of civic space anchored in the experience of organisations doing the work on the ground rather than in statements drafted far from it.
Partnership is easier to announce than to maintain, and days like this one are how it actually gets maintained.

🔴This isn't a prediction. It's already happening.
Young people are organizing, mobilizing, and holding power to account in spaces that didn't exist a generation ago. And the focus is around keeping those spaces open.
