Max Verstappen had often expressed his interest in taking part in the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, before now confirming that he is really trying to make an entry into the 2027 race work. However, it does come with an interesting logistical dilemma. A car from the Pro class is not allowed to have a fourth driver and cars already have to have three drivers for the normal races in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup powered by AWS, the championship which the #Spa24h is of course a part of. What Verstappen obviously doesn't want to do, is take over the seat of one of his regular drivers - Jules Gounon, Dani Juncadella or Chris Lulham for example if the line-up for next year stays the same -, especially if they seem to be in title contention after Paul Ricard and Imola. You don't want to take away the chance at a championship from one of your drivers. A solution is fielding a second Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing car for Verstappen himself and then two other drivers. I'm not saying that is going to happen, but personally I currently see that as a solution. And who are those two other drivers going to be? Probably not Álex Palou, who was once rumored to actually be the third driver for this weekend's race in Portimão. Verstappen Racing have said it was Chris Lulham who did the quickest time in the No. 3 car during the Paid Test Session with a 1:43.076, 0.102 seconds behind the No. 12 GetSpeed AMG. Max Verstappen's best time was a 1:43.646, as he focused on collecting data. #GTWorldEurope

I believe Max Verstappen reached a milestone this weekend of 100 victories in motorsports since his debut in car racing in 2014. That year he won 2 races in the Florida Winter Series and 10 races in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship alongside the Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort. He took victory together with Chris Lulham in the ninth round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie last year. Over the course of his Formula One career, he has won 72 Grands Prix and, crucially since the Saturday in Singapore, he is on 14 Sprint victories.
