1/ EXCLUSIVE: at @RFERL we obtained photos of a Russian flotilla in Tartus port, taken early September. This is the 1st instance in months of a Russian military ship being docked there, month after the announcement that Russia’s bases in Syria would be 'transferred' to Damascus.
UPDATE: 🇷🇺🇸🇾 After around two months of absence, Russia is back in the Mediterranean, with a Russian naval convoy now arriving at Tartus, Syria. Our team at @SONARROW_OSINT has been tracking the convoy since August 25. The four Russian vessels have travelled from the Atlantic into the Mediterranean and across the region before reaching the Syrian coast. The SPARTA Ro-Ro cargo ship and AKADEMIK PASHIN replenishment oiler are now docked at Tartus. The SPARTA appears to have already unloaded its cargo. The ADMIRAL LEVCHENKO Udaloy-class destroyer and GENERAL SKOBELEV tanker are not currently inside the port. They may be operating offshore, similar to how the ADMIRAL FLOTA KASATONOV has operated around Tartus in recent months. What exactly was delivered to Tartus remains unclear, but the return of a Russian convoy to the Syrian port after months away is significant. So the key questions remain: What did SPARTA bring to Syria, and how long will the Russian vessels remain at Tartus?

Strait of Hormuz Traffic Flow (10 Sep 2026) SAR pass (02:06 UTC/06:06 Local) shows vessel flow via the Omani channel: Caveats apply but based on length (which is hard to be certain with SAR imagery), we could have the following: 2x VLCC (~350m & ~330m) transiting south Aframax (~245m) & previously disabled hull to the north

A community note for the Pentagon spokesman:
Publishing highly classified assessments from the Secretary’s orders book is a crime. It’s a betrayal of the force. And much of what they’re publishing is inaccurate. Of course, we demand candid military advice. Non-concurs are standard. The Secretary sees them constantly. That’s how you run a real military. We are in great shape around the world. This story isn’t about readiness. It’s TDS and PDS — they hate President Trump and Secretary Hegseth more than they love America.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
While leaking classified material is illegal for government employees, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in New York Times Co. v. United States (1971) that the First Amendment protects the press's right to publish classified information of public interest. nytimes.com/2016/06/30/ins…

The Pentagon has placed several conservative military veterans with large social media followings in civilian roles within the department, according to The Washington Post, which reviewed Pentagon records and spoke with people familiar with the assignments. Among those identified are retired Air Force Col. Rob Maness (@RobManess) and retired Army Col. Kurt Schlichter (@KurtSchlichter) , both of whom have active government email accounts and are assigned to the office of Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Anthony Tata. Retired Army Col. Thomas Anderson, who writes online as @CynicalPublius, was also previously listed in the office. The Post reports that the individuals have been serving as either special government employees or highly qualified experts. The precise duties, compensation and start dates for the assignments have not been disclosed. The assignments appear to intersect with several Pentagon initiatives focused on military education and personnel policy. Maness, Schlichter and Anderson participated in a Senior Service College Task Force review at the Army War College in May. The task force was established to examine what Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth described as “toxic” or “woke” ideology at senior service colleges. The disclosure is notable because the three have maintained significant public profiles as commentators and, in several cases, have publicly supported Hegseth's policies. The Post also reports that some of their government affiliations were not disclosed in their recent public commentary. Separately, conservative influencer Jennica Pounds, who writes as DataRepublican (@DataRepublican), disclosed that she became a Defense Department special government employee in July after previously holding a journalist credential in Hegseth's Pentagon press corps. The Pentagon has declined to publicly identify the roles or confirm whether the individuals are receiving taxpayer-funded compensation. Thus far, the available reporting establishes their government affiliations but does not establish that they were hired specifically to promote partisan messaging or that their social-media activity is being directed by the Pentagon. 🇺🇸USN LOGISTICS: Diego Garcia Fuel Bridge in Action Fresh Sentinel 2 (15 Aug 2026) corroborates @mercoglianos: ⛽ TSP Commercial Tanker (~183m) in the lagoon 🚢 Henry J. Kaiser-class oiler pierside alongside 🚢 Unknown vessel alongside (likely commercial) 🚢 Arleigh Burke Class DDG
🚢What is the issue with USS Abraham Lincoln?🚢 Everyone should have heard about the issues on board USS Abraham Lincoln ▶️Poor food quality on board ▶️Crew members who have jumped or attempted to jump overboard ▶️Extended deployment in a combat zone The question is why is this happening. 1️⃣LOGISTICS: The loss of bases in Bahrain, UAE and Oman has forced the @USNavy, the Military Sealift Command @MSCSealift and Defense Logisitics Agency @DLAMIL to source stores from bases in East Africa or East Asia. MSC has committed a fleet of logistics ships to deliver fuel, food, and ammunition, but those ships have to sail thousands of miles, vice hundreds to keep two dozen combatants at sea. Even at the height of the Second World War, the logistics train used by the Navy was shorter than the one being used now in the northern Arabian Sea. There is an issue with adequate warehouse and refrigeration storage at Diego Garcia and the ability to deliver stores to that site as there is just one contracted ship in that service. As the US Navy ships are not making routine port calls in the region, they are completely dependent on stores loaded on a ship in Kenya, Singapore, Japan, or Korea and arriving on board after weeks already afloat. 2️⃣During the Second World War, Korean War, Vietnam, Persian Gulf War and Iraq War, the US Navy understood the concept that ships need down time from combat operations to reset the crew and equipment. Typical rule of thumb is if you have 3 or 4 carriers deployed, one is back refueling, replenishing and resetting. The issue in the northern Arabian Sea is that only two carriers are deployed. @ianellisjones from @thewarzonewire shows Lincoln and Bush in the region with Washington in SE Asia. Two carriers can only provide 24/7 at the expense of the crew, equipment and materiel. Working on a ship is GROUNDHOG DAY... everyday is the same. No days off, no vacation, and you live where you work. This place a massive strain on everything, particularly the mental stress on young sailors. Even in WWII, the fast carriers of Task Force 38/58 would only stay at sea for a month at a time. TF 77 off Korea and Yankee Station in Vietnam followed similar models. 3️⃣The underlining issue is fighting a war - and this is a war - with a peacetime Navy and mentality. There are not enough assets in place to support this mission, and this mission is grinding down the readiness of the militart to fight future conflicts. This is the most challenging naval logistics operation since the British deployed to the Falklands in 1982. Finally, the @DeptofWar needs to directly address these issues. Have a press conference and show what is going on with the ships in the region. xitter.cf/i/trending/20879648983…

❗️Exilenova+ satellite analysis of the August 12 Novorossiysk strike shows extensive damage at three key sites: the NKHP grain and fuel-oil terminals, Russia’s naval base and the Sheskharis oil-export terminal. Admiral Makarov and Admiral Essen were likely hit near their Kalibr launchers, while a minesweeper, patrol ship, intelligence ship and experimental vessel also appear damaged. NKHP handles around 12% of Russian grain exports, while Sheskharis suffered hits on its main tanker berths. #Ukraine
