A great series from @triclassified covering the awful consequences of Philby's actions, as well as the sometimes farcical nature of the whole affair.
He's back. MI6's greatest traitor returns to @triclassified podcast as we finish the story of Kim Philby. We pick up with him in Washington as liaison to the new CIA. Episode 1 includes possibly the worst dinner party in history when old friend Guy Burgess drops by......

RUSI was pleased to partner with @CSIS and @UKinUSA yesterday for a conversation with UK Defence Secretary @wesstreeting (@DefenceHQ) on the future of US-UK defence cooperation. As Europe rearms and transatlantic burden-sharing evolves, the discussion examined how London and Washington can keep deterrence credible. You can watch the full recording here: bit.ly/4zuUmKk

Even worse, in practice it is not operating at speeds remotely near the new velocity restriction that suddenly came into effect last night.
“Starlink terminals used by Ukrainian drone units began experiencing signal failures at speeds above 160kph, disrupting several missions early on Wednesday morning, according to military personnel and senior Ukrainian officials. ‘Logistics at the frontline and middle strikes are badly limited,’ one senior Ukrainian official familiar with the situation on the front told the FT. Ukraine’s middle strikes target Russian military supply lines and logistics. The limitations came with ‘no warning, just in the middle of the night’, the official said.” ft.com/content/37085602-726a…

@jpanikoff and @MTSavill joined @AKendallTaylor and @jteurope on Brussel Sprouts this past week to discuss if and how the Iran war would spread to the European territory and how prepared NATO is for a response. Listen wherever you get your podcasts: cnas.org/publications/podcas…

Ken McCallum, DG of MI5, gave his annual threat assessment today. Announces a new AI Threat Assessment Centre, or AITAC. "Not yet realised – but the misuse case to which I’d attach greatest weight – is AI’s potential to change the stakes on existing or even new bioweapons."

Thought-provoking latest Net Assessment podcast from @profmarlowe @RealChrisPreble @ZackCooper on the potential impact of AI. Worth also reading the recent blog by @kpd_musing on scenarios and predictions for the scale of such disruption. stimson.org/2026/will-ai-tan…

A privilege to be on @CNASdc Brussels Sprouts for the first time, and a good conversation; I’d be interested to hear if others think we characterised the threat and frictions accurately.
Thrilled to have the opportunity to join the @CNASdc Brussels Sprouts podcast hosted by my friend and former USG colleague @AKendallTaylor and @jteurope. And to get to engage on such an important topic alongside @RUSI_org's @MTSavill. You can find the episode here: cnas.org/publications/podcas… @AtlanticCouncil

A good discussion on an important subject, given the occasional hyperbole, but also the real need to improve our defences against air attack. Israel and Ukraine as instructive, but the UK's geography means the threat would be slightly different.

Important discussion between @RolandOliphant and @c21st_sailor and @Sidhart94353129 of @RUSI_org on Iran The Latest. US military superiority over Iran does not mean there aren’t costs to this scale of operation. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcas…

"Russia cannot simply build its way out of the problem through numerical expansion." New RUSI research by Dr Sidharth Kaushal finds Russia's nuclear modernisation will favour response speed and precision over mobility and arsenal size. It will see continued investment in silo-based systems, theatre-level strike capabilities, and counterspace tools, while mobile launchers and submarines see less growth, treated more as a retaliatory hedge than the centrepiece of deterrence. rusi.org/explore-our-researc…
