A new leadership? Eugene Debs: “If you are looking for a Moses to lead you out of this capitalist wilderness, you will stay right where you are. I would not lead you into the promised land if I could, because if I led you in, some one else would lead you out.”

Sainsbury's has posted an annual profit of £1.02bn. It current has 10,000 young people working for free, paid by you. With £1.02bn it could hire 105,905 people aged 18-20 for 16 hours a week all year. Why not MAKE the scumbags hire instead of giving them free workers?

Channel 4’s Britains Gaza’s Secrets Exposed shows why Andy Burnham turned down Jeremy Corbyn’s call for a public enquiry into the Gaza genocide. An enquiry would expose the UK government were advised that Israel were committing war crimes, but chose to keep arming them anyway.

Very important. The National Education Union effectively rejects the key recommendations of the new Independent Antisemitism Review, rejecting the IHRA Definition and suggesting current approaches create a hierarchy of racism. Directly says the report "will not tackle antisemitism." This review looks like yet another Labour Together Project disgrace - the long tail of McSweeney-Starmerism - that will likely inflame rather than reduce tensions in schools. Exasperating, infuriating stuff. Imagine telling teachers - teachers! In it for the kids! - that they can't talk about or show opposition Israel's genocide against Palestinian children. Here's what NEU's Daniel Kebede says: "However, recommending the IHRA definition for schools risks deepening the problem rather than tackling it, and actively undermining efforts to confront antisemitism. It is the wrong approach. The IHRA’s contested framing risks blurring the line between antisemitism and legitimate criticism of the Israeli government and the genocide in Gaza, leaving teachers with uncertainty when they need clarity. A young person’s opposition to the Gaza genocide and scrutiny of the Israeli government are not, in themselves, antisemitic. Young people must have the space to understand and discuss world events. Schools must enable young people to confront difficult issues openly and develop empathy, not drive teachers into silence or leave pupils afraid to express their views. Recommending the IHRA definition risks tightening the chilling grip already stifling classroom discussion of the Gaza genocide. Schools need practical support to confront antisemitism, not a contested framework that risks shutting down legitimate discussion. The very real risk is that children who cannot critically explore issues through classroom discussion will instead seek their answers in online and unsafe groups. “This report will not tackle antisemitism. It wrongly calls into question the professionalism of teachers. The existing rules on impartiality in the classroom are very clear and teachers take that responsibility very seriously. For three years, teachers have been responding to concerned pupils’ questions about this conflict. These classroom discussions are familiar territory, not uncharted ground. In that time there have been vanishingly few examples of the Teacher Regulation Agency holding up a complaint of lack of impartiality in the classroom. "The NEU welcomes a strengthened focus on antisemitism in the statutory safeguarding guidance and we would encourage the Department for Education to go a step further by strengthening the guidance on all forms of racism. We are concerned that addressing antisemitism without an equally clear commitment to tackling all forms of racism risks creating a hierarchy of racism. No form of racism should be minimised, and no pupil or member of staff should receive less protection. Similarly, the NEU welcomes training for staff on recognising and challenging antisemitism, but we would like to see this in the context of wider antiracism training. The lack of training and time for staff development is a real barrier and almost two thirds of teachers (65 per cent) report that they have not received any antiracism training of any kind within the past year."

🚨 PLEASE SHARE! I've written to both my children's schools following the Government's antisemitism review. I WILL NOT accept genocide being presented as a two-sided political debate, or Palestinian history and suffering being erased from their education. I've drafted a template which I'm sharing for other parents to use or adapt. Political impartiality must NEVER become historical dishonesty. Please use them. Challenge your schools. The 5-day, 40-hour work week was standardised a century ago. Almost everything else has sped up dramatically since then - automation, robotics, computers, the internet, emails - so why are we still plodding along on Henry Ford’s schedule? It’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰

Matt Hancock should be in jail. Everyone knew at the time that he was throwing care home residents under the bus during Covid. 43,000 people died because of his incompetent decisions. And that’s not even to mention the numerous corrupt contracts he handed out. Horrific man.

The Canary will be closed for the foreseeable future. As of today (Monday 19 October), the Canary will be closed indefinitely. After multiple attacks this year, from Lloyds debanking us to former employees spreading malicious lies on social media, the situation has become unsustainable, both financially and operationally. After 11 years, we take this action with deep sadness and regret. The extent of the lies, defamation, and harassment by ex-staff - coupled with the constant attacks by the state and those who’d see us destroyed - has become too much. However, it is not over. This week, we will publish what really happened at the Canary and push back against the vicious campaign against our team and us. We may be down, but we’re not out yet.

Can anyone remember the last time @BBCNews interviewed a Palestinian about their experience of the racism of Zionism? Having spent the last two weeks interviewing elderly Nakba survivors in Jordan, driven off their land in their teens because of their ethnicity and religion, I'd be happy to suggest some astonishingly articulate victims of Israeli racism who would be only too happy to tell their tragic stories of eviction, slaughter and dispossession. It is like reporting on the Civil Rights movement in the US and only interviewing outraged Whites @bbclaurak @bbcnickrobinson @JustinOnWeb @BBCr4today
“[Saying] ‘Zionism is racism’ is offensive, it’s antisemitic and it’s dangerous” Broadcaster Jo Coburn says she “watched in horror” as the Green Party passed its motion on Zionism and criticises leader Zack Polanski's defence in his #BBCLauraK interview bbc.co.uk/news/live/c64gv8k2…

This piece and post from the Daily Mail is insanely antisemitic on multiple levels. It suggests all Jews in the UK are all anti-Palestinian bigots who can’t stand the sight of any expression of support for Palestinians. (They’re not.) It suggests all Jews in the UK are to blame for, or represent, Israel’s oppression of the Palestinians. (They’re not and they don’t.) Truly disgusting.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Allowing this dead-company-walking to be bailed out again, instead of taking it into Special Administration and then permanent public ownership, would be a disgrace and a betrayal by the Andy Burnham government Enough is enough.
Thames Water is due to run out of money (again) over the next few weeks. A year and a half ago it was given a £3 billion bailout now it's asking for another £2.4 billion. We really are being taken for mugs. theguardian.com/business/202…

Replying to @IDF
I was a combat soldier in an elite IDF unit. I served in the West Bank and witnessed firsthand how settlers could do whatever they wanted with impunity. Today I’m the Executive Director of ״Breaking the Silence״ an organization that has collected thousands of testimonies from Israeli soldiers over the past two decades. And I can say with certainty that this statement by IDF spokesperson is a lie. The IDF is not trying to stop Jewish terrorism in the occupied territories. In fact, it protects Jewish terrorists and arms them with US-made M16 rifles. If the IDF genuinely wanted to stop Jewish terrorism, the Chief of Staff could simply order the 30,000 soldiers stationed in the West Bank to carry out arrests. It’s that simple.

✊ “One union that threw its weight behind the Battle of Cable Street commemoration was Unite. For weeks leading up to the anniversary, it dedicated staff time and resources to a variety of activities aimed at raising the profile of trade unions in fighting racism, using Cable Street as an example. Unite produced a widely circulated tabloid featuring a range of relevant issues in an accessible style alongside a range of campaigning materials. And on the eve of the 4 October parade, it organised a gig pitched specifically at younger people, as well as commissioning a stained-glass window commemorating the anniversary. “ tribunemag.co.uk/2026/10/tra…
