The entire state government may melt down tomorrow if VITA drops the ball.

Pretty much the entire public facing web presence of the Virginia state government runs on PHP. This should be interesting.
Full details of a remotely exploitable vulnerability in the core engine of *all* PHP versions will be released tomorrow, October 21st. If your organization has internet facing PHP applications then you need to be ready to patch the minute the update is released or *strongly* consider taking the application offline until you can: php.net/index.php#2026-10-20…

Like I said, the more you see the attacks against Shannon Taylor, the more you realize she needs to win. Everyone will be better off if she’s in DC and not Henrico.
🚨BOMBSHELL: A new lawsuit has just been filed against Shannon Taylor that could be a DISASTER for her campaign for #VA01. Filed by a former Henrico County prosecutor, it alleges that Taylor FIRED the prosecutor for reporting harassment & unwanted sexual contact from a colleague. Lawsuit seeks $1.25 million in damages and a jury trial. RETALIATION, DEFAMATION, CONSPIRACY‼️ The media MUST report on this - Virginians deserve answers! @NickMinock @TylerEnglander

I so hope this is real because if it is, it confirms my initial take that El-Sayed is AT LEAST 2 standard deviations smarter than the limit for being a candidate for office. Only a certifiable genius could be dumb enough to say this on film. This is a Larry David level bit.
Abdul El-Sayed to black voters: I am not like your "gas station Abdul" who hates blacks, catcalls women This reeks of desperation

I keep watching this and it keeps getting better. In what fucking universe are kids hating on the gas station owner selling them loose cigs? If they're selling loose cigs they are selling you 40s too and at that point that's your best friend.

I thought El-Sayed was your typical All American smart jock douchebag combination, but if he's talking down about gas station owners selling underage kids loose cigs, I'm not so sure anymore. That should be a core positive memory for him.

I've been anti-Zionist since Operation Cast Lead but at some point I grew up and realized that if America and Israel stopped fighting, it's not going to magically make Hamas or Iran change their mind about wanting to kill me for being Jewish.
Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed shared his views on U.S.-Israel relations, saying he does not consider Israel an American ally: “I think it’s time for us to realize that Israel is not actually our friend.” Watch the full conversation tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ABC News Live Prime’s “All Access with Linsey Davis” streaming on @disneyplus and @hulu.

America and Israel have done a lot of things to make a lot of people want to kill us. We should stop making things worse, we should not pretend that doing that makes other people stop wanting to kill us. If anything it makes them more motivated in the short term.

The sad fact is that we are in serious danger of re-running the post-Cold War problems that come from funding groups to fight your battles and then leaving them holding the bag. You think you get peace but what you really get is double the number of people trying to kill you.

Another data point for why any kind of correction in the data center/GPU space will only skyrocket AI adoption. If a crash happens, Amazon unloads those GPUs at firesale prices and suddenly the number of people who can train and deploy frontier models increases 100x.
Business Insider confirms it: Amazon has warehouses of GPUs that can’t be installed, and is buying them so far in advance that a supply chain team said they “didn’t have a clear forecasted path” to installing them. businessinsider.com/amazon-2…

This is why there will be no AI bubble to pop. We've maybe got a data center bubble, but if that pops, it only means AI adoption skyrockets as GPU prices plummet. The models are so good that each new generation is providing benefits to smaller and smaller groups of people.
OpenAI, Anthropic and other leading AI labs face a growing challenge: Better models aren't necessarily attracting more usage. A 10-point intelligence advantage now earns just 20% more developer traffic, down from nearly 69% in late 2025. Full story: thein.fo/4hGJ9jY

The Senate streams on YouTube. This is a plus for transparency. The Senate no longer posts raw mp4 files on the internet. This is a negative for transparency. On balance, it all comes down to if/when Google completely blocks scraping mp4s from YouTube.
Good morning #valeg @VASenate rules at 830, finance at 930 Rules agenda is delightfully vague Data center tax update is part of finance.

I'm not really sure what any of this means other than that I'm successfully generating and then downloading mp4 files for Richmond government meetings 12 at a time for about 2 cents each.

Robb Wittman's attack ads are doing a really good job at convincing people to vote for Shannon Taylor as a way of getting rid of her as Commonwealth's Attorney.

If the "bubble" bursts, which I think its questionable, it's not going to turn out like people think. GPU's aren't going to disappear, data centers will simply drop prices causing open source models to accelerate and inference prices to crater. nypost.com/2026/10/17/busine…
