1/9 huggingface.co/notdiamond/no… We’re open-sourcing a lightweight preview of our router that sends queries to either GPT-3.5 or GPT-4, maximizing accuracy while drastically reducing costs and latency. Routing to Gemini, Mistral, Claude, and Llama coming soon. A few quick points:

All the jokes about OpenAI killing startups with each new release have some validity. We just removed Pinecone and Langchain from our codebase lowering our monthly fees and removing a lot of complexity. New Assistants API is fantastic ✨

We dug into a paper that’s been misinterpreted as saying GPT-4 has gotten worse. The paper shows behavior change, not capability decrease. And there's a problem with the evaluation—on 1 task, we think the authors mistook mimicry for reasoning. w/ @sayashk aisnakeoil.com/p/is-gpt-4-ge…

Long term (~30yrs+) we’re headed towards a post work society. This will be a seismic transition. What would you do all day if you didn’t have to work full time?

People who join startups after working at large companies
Crested mynas, as many other birds, are born altricially, which means young are underdeveloped at the time of birth, therefore fed by parents. When they grow up, they have to learn that food doesn't simply jump into their beaks [📽️: Rebecca Gelernter]

I wanted to simplify the below diagram, and here it is. YOLO development vs "thorough verification through deployment environments and responsible rollouts" development:
How do you ship code to production? Here are the two "extremes" you can do so: 1. YOLO releases. Very fast, and the highest likelihood of introducing issues & regressions. 2. Thorough validation and testing. Slower, more involved, more tooling, but lower likelihood of issues.

1/3 Some panoptic segmentation eye candy 🌈🤩 from a new project we are bringing up. These are too raw to run in the car, but feed into auto labelers. Collaboration of data labeling a large (100K+), clean, diverse, multicam+video dataset and engineers who train the models

One of the main reasons why I am extremely enthusiastic about teaching machines how to do stuff is because that way there is less of a pressure on me to become another machine. There are enough cyborgs in the World as is.

Deep Learning is a form of human-assisted but mostly constraint-driven software development. It works because a particular smooth relaxation of program space allows a surprisingly efficient and effective local search. Something like that, my favorite definition.
