Not a great advert for US democracy and participation
Roughly half of voters are confident that U.S. election systems are free from hacking and other technological threats. 💻

For a politician with an obvious charismatic appeal #NigelFarage little by little appears to be losing his touch, floundering rather than inspiring his base. Reform's alternative budget proposals this week could be the make or break moment for his party

A-Level Economists... worth reading some of the reviews of Liz Truss' new mini book, amongst the general mirth there are some excellent insights into how the bond markets work (Not from Liz but her critics)... could be especially useful before the upcoming Budget announcements!!

Yr 12 Paper 1 ... UK Parties & Elections
Return of 2 party system or temp blip in Reform & Green support?
Certainly improves chances of snap election if polls consistently show Reform decline over next couple of months but why should PM take risk for so little gain? Mandate?

How did Lula come from behind to crush Bolsonaro?
In short, turnout.
Bolsonaro's vote share barely moved. Lula banked millions of votes from those who didn't vote in 1st round and won eliminated candidates' votes.
A remarkable mobilisation. 2nd round turnout usually below 1st.

Good news for the BBC! Almost guarantees #DonaldTrump will drop the lawsuit rather than be exposed to direct scrutiny

Geopolitics expert! 🤣🤣
Former Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Ukraine) actually just posted something I agree with. Former British PM Winston Churchill absolutely could have shortened World War Two by four to five years.
All he had to do was accept Hitler's surprising peace offers in July 1940 or May 1941 to withdraw German forces from 81 percent of German-occupied Europe (and North Africa) in exchange for an end to the war with the UK and a free hand to lead his long-planned 'international crusade' against the Soviet Union. Doing so likely would have saved the lives of six million Jews who died during the Jewish Holocaust.
Similarly, Zelensky could have ended the war in April 2022 by signing the Istanbul Agreement mandating the withdrawal of all Russian troops from Ukraine's pre-war controlled territories in exchange for Ukraine's neutrality outside of NATO and partial demilitarization. History is constantly repeating itself and those who fail to learn from the mistakes of history are condemned to repeat them.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Hitler's July 1940 Reichstag speech was a vague appeal with no specific withdrawal terms or 81% figure. Hess's 1941 flight was unauthorized with only general proposals; detailed claims match only the poster's accounts, not records. ibiblio.org/pha/policy/194… britannica.com/biography/Rudo… encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/art…
