Elliot Watt has now completed his move to Turkish Sรผper Lig side, Samsunspor for a deal reportedly amounting to around ยฃ2 million.
Motherwell now face the task of replacing one of their best players from last season.
Here are 3 players I have identified that could replicate the impact Watt had on how Motherwell performed last season.

In this thread I'll compare 10 potential Scotland Centre Forwards over 8 different metrics ahead of Steve Clarke announcing the squad in the next couple of weeks.
It's important to say from the offset that context is important when comparing players in different leagues, you may believe a player's performance in Serie A more relevant to International Football than the English Championship. All data sourced via Wyscout and Fotmob, data accurate as per 7th May.

Could Hearts Claudio Braga replacement come from the same club? ๐๐ณ๐ดโก๏ธ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ
Many Hearts fans are already expecting to say goodbye to Claudio Braga after just one season at Tynecastle, with the forward reportedly attracting interest from across Europe following a strong debut campaign in Scotland.
McInnes and Jamestown will no doubt already have a shortlist of replacements lined upโฆ but could the answer be as simple as returning to Bragaโs former club?
Kristian Lonebu is a 20-year-old Norwegian striker currently playing for Bragaโs former side, Aalesund, now competing in Norwayโs top flight.
During their 2025 promotion campaign from the Norwegian First Division, Lonebu profiled as the top-rated U26 centre forward - outperforming names like Bassekou Diabatรฉ (previously flagged as a potential Lawrence Shankland replacement) and Sebastian Pedersen.
So what makes Lonebu stand out? Letโs take a look at the numbers.
Lonebu 2025 Data Snapshot:
โฝ 0.68 xG/90 - elite chance generator
๐ฆ 6.28 box touches/90 - penalty area presence
๐ฏ 0.19 xG/shot - top-tier shot quality
๐ 3.5 shots/90 - volume + threat
๐ -1.54 (Goals โ xG) - underlying numbers suggest more goals coming
โก 3.42 successful attacking actions - constant involvement
Lonebu Match Notes:
Don't worry, this isn't a case of pluck some data and a name and dump it on X; here's what I saw over Lonebu's actions spread across his 1100(ish) First Division minutes.
Lonebu has a great physical profile something that will be import if McInnes is going to utilise him at all as seen with the exclusion of the likes of Altena, Kerjota and Mato in favour of less technically capable more physical players.
He's around 6'/6'1 with a strong physical frame and is very comfortable absorbing physical pressure with his back to goal and holding the ball up for runners in behind.
Works hard off the ball, isn't a luxuary player will run for the full ninety dropping deep to support/re-win possession off the ball and then sprint back up to the final third to provide an outlet.
Has a good burst of acceleration, reaches his top speed (which is not lights out quick but is threatening enough) quickly and runs with power providing a strong counter attacking threat or long ball outlet.
Few technical traits that need polishing his simple passing and first touch are fine but if he is going to reach the next level they will need development, he is also quite prone to driving himself into danger/tight spaces as well as holding onto the ball one/two seconds too long which results in him spilling possession.
Confident ball striker, hits the ball well from a range of angles, looks confident in the box and although he is not as aesthetic on the ball as Braga and doesn't have the same turn of skill to beat a man one vs one, he does win a good share of his attacking duels through simple yet effective on-the-ball movement and his strong physical profile.
His attacking movement can be a little predictable with a control touch (very rarely striking the ball first time) followed by a ball roll across to adjust for his body positioning which usually allows the defense to close him down/win back the ball as he is not getting his shot off until the third or fourth touch.
He looks like he would benefit from playing alongside a center forward like Lawrence Shankland, the two would complement each other well and Shankland's knowledge would certainly be a strong development opportunity for the Norwegian.
Additionally, playing with pacey, direct pitch stretching wingers would be a huge benefit to Lonebu, his ability to drop deep with his back to goal hold off one/two defenders and turn to run at goal or get a pass in behind off could benefit Hearts goal scoring wide men but the final ball/action consistency needs improvement.
He has attributes that remind me very much of Owen Elding who has had a promising start to life in Scotland and at just 20-years-old has a real long term upside for Hearts in terms of securing resale value regardless of his long term success at the club.
Overall Thoughts:
With a long term contract and 600,000 euro market value (on par with Braga's prior to joining Hearts) it remains to be seen how achievable this deal may be and he is by no means a like for like identical replacement for Braga but what Lonebu would give you is a confident ball striking center forward who's output is currently below where the data suggests it should be with strong underlying attacking numbers, a very McInnes physical profile, strong work rate and high upside potential due his age, physical attributes and pedigree.
He is a lot of what you would expect from a Norwegian born, bred and developed center forward - I don't need to make the comparison for you to know who I am talking about ๐ค
Hearts are in for a big summer of investment and player replacement and this is more of a 'it's quite interesting that there's another great option from Aalesund' than a 'we NEED to bring this guy in ASAP' but thought it was worth a share regardless.
Hoping to put a lot of time and energy into covering Hearts transfer links/potential names as the season wraps up and we move into Summer so stick around if that's your sort of thing.

Watching us play Japan on Saturday highlighted concerns about how we attempt to control phases of matches and create chances.
