Just back from @IAC2026Antalya. We were ready to dive back into space... and then we saw the @Tesla Roadster doing a mid-air kickflip ๐๐
We couldn't ignore it - itโs the perfect use case for LunCoSim. We built this moving model from scratch with a single prompt.
Next week, we tackle the physics: rigid-body, thermodynamics, valve electronics. While we share our IAC takeaways, the model will be cooking in the background.
Engineers: how would you approach the thruster control logic? Drop your thoughts๐
How Tesla keep compressed air warm enough to sustain pressure?
Tesla Roadster uses compressed air for jumps.
But that Air gets cold very fast. One of our models have shown that temperature drops to 200K from while the car used only 120 kg of compressed aird from 250kg on board.
@elonmusk Does Tesla heats it? Or most of the tanks actually not used?

Tomorrow evening weโre running a lunar mission at @IAC2026Antalya . Youโre invited to fly it! ๐
๐ ๏ธ Run a Lunar Mission Together
Wed 7 Oct, 17:00โ18:30 ยท free ยท part of International Moon Day
Most mission studies look at one vehicle or one subsystem at a time. Surface operations donโt work that way. A roverโs drive plan depends on the comms window, the comms window depends on the terrain, and the terrain decides where the sun hits the panels. In LunCoSim those pieces run in one shared world.
Itโs alpha software, and thatโs the point: we want to see where it breaks while itโs still cheap to change.
What broke, what fought you, what would have to be true before youโd run this on your own project.
Bring a laptop. Registered participants: location and updates are in the workshop WhatsApp group.

If you are in space missions simulations, especially in lunar rovers - let's meet at the @IAC2026Antalya

๐ ๏ธ Hands-on side event: Run a Lunar Mission Together
7 Oct, 18:30โ20:00 | DM us
๐ค Our talks
8 Oct, 11:05 | Hall 6 โ Open-source simulation testbed for cooperative lunar surface ops
8 Oct, 16:12 | Hall 34 โ Interoperability barriers and the case for open rover standards
9 Oct, 14:15 | G2 โ Bridging architecture and systems engineering: simulation for lunar habitat design
๐ There @0xIonRod @CatFaber
๐ป What we do
LunCo makes open-source simulation software for lunar mission engineering. It runs on an ordinary laptop and lets a team run a mission together: driving rovers, managing power and comms, coordinating a lander โ so lunar ops can be tested before hardware.
Come find us after a session or DM us to set a time

To test what LunCoSim can actually do, weโre building @astrobotic Griffin-1 mission to the Moon as a working simulation. Griffin is the lander, and Astrolabโs FLIP rover rides on it. This is part of our work with @OfficialMoonDAO lunar base infrastructure.
Itโs not a render. The lander and rover are connected the way they are in reality. FLIPโs power and thermal systems are real models attached to the vehicle, so when the rover drives, power draw and temperatures change as a consequence, not as a scripted animation. The mission sequence is code you can read and edit. Change a waypoint, rerun it, see what breaks.
The part we keep coming back to is provenance. Public Griffin and FLIP numbers are recorded with sources. Everything not yet public is clearly marked as a placeholder. That matters. A sim you canโt trace is just a video. A sim that tracks where every number came from is something you can actually argue with.
LunCoSim is still alpha and open source. Weโre building in the open, and yes, weโre still tuning our own processes. If youโre working on lunar or planetary missions, weโd love your eyes on it.
Weโll be at a side event at @IAC2026Antalya in Belek on Oct 7, 18:30, showing the Griffin-1 model and gathering feedback. Bring a laptop if you want to drive the rover yourself.

We'll be at @IAC2026Antalya in Antalya this October, presenting 3 papers.
Since most of the people we want to talk to will be in the same building that week, we're adding something: a hands-on session on Wednesday 7 October, in the evening.
Not a demo you watch. You bring a laptop, take a role, and run a lunar surface operation with the rest of the room โ rovers, a lander, power and comms in one shared scene. 90 minutes, free, no prior LunCoSim experience needed.
We're doing it to meet the people already running LunCoSim and the ones who've been meaning to try it โ and to hear what breaks when a room full of engineers uses it at once.
Everything else โ the room, the seat count, the exact format โ we're still working out. The number of people who hit Attend is what decides most of it.
So if you'll be in Antalya: click Attend and we'll send details as they land. If you know someone who should be in that room, send them over.

The rover shall operate for five days without external power.
In SysML v2 that is a requirement.
In Modelica it becomes equations โ sun angle, battery state of charge, the draw from driving and comms.
In USD it becomes a place: a slope near the pole, at an hour when the terrain casts a shadow across the panel.
Only the 3 step tells you whether the 1st one holds, because the shadow is part of the physics.
It is still an answer under your assumptions, not a validated design.

Wednesday evening at @IAC2026Antalya, we're running a mission on the Moon. Something will go wrong. That's the interesting part.
Afterwards you tell us what broke and what you'd need before you'd use this for real. That's what sets our roadmap after Antalya โ we'd rather build it around engineers who've had their hands on it.
Bring a laptop. Free. Limited seats.
