"Gentrifiers may think their sportswear and ambiguous childhood circumstances help them blend in, but it doesn’t. They treat locals with suspicion and condescension, admiring them in the abstract while avoiding any meaningful interactions." Read below... lucidtakes.com/home/blog-pos…

"The cultural appropriation discourse has been supercharged by the devastating advent of gentrification. No longer is the gap-year hippie a neutral threat...today they are returning fully dreaded and flush with parental cash." Read more below... lucidtakes.com/home/cultural…

A car drove into people at a Free Palestine protest in Nottingham city centre, leaving a man with leg injuries. A 51 year old man was later arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. I’m sure you heard it on the news xitter.cf/unknownakh22/status/13…

Class has everything to do with these factors. Not only does growing up wealthy mean a higher chance of success but, more importantly, it gives you a safety net and access to assets via inheritance. Classism is also influenced by whether the below factors fall in ones favour

Crushing defeat for Labour in Hartlepool. Not possible to blame Jeremy Corbyn for this result. Labour won the seat twice under his leadership. Keir Starmer must think again about his strategy #HartlepoolByElection

If anyone's bought medjool dates from @sainsburys , they've been recalled because of possible contamination with Hepatitis A food.gov.uk/news-alerts/aler…
Can definitely see Keir saying "I don't see colour" or "I don't care if you're white, black, blue, green or purple..."

Speaking to my friend and she made a very valid point. If #RichardOkorogheye was wanted for some crime or white and female the police would have found him so FAST. London is literally the most surveilled city in the world! I pray for his safe return! 🙏🏿

You throw everyone under the bus apart from Tory flip-flop voters and they still don't back you. Starmer deserves the drubbing he's about to receive.

Often why they self-segregate when they do move to London. Funny how marginalised groups are accused of not integrating. How, and why should we, when our mere existence is an affront to white, regional "normality".
When white people who grew up in white towns talk about how “different” London makes them “feel” (but dont say specifically why) I cant help but think that it’s less about how marginalised they are & more about how uncomfortable it feels to be around actually marginalised people.
From my little sister‘a free school meals hamper for Easter. Company called @Pinkorangeuk. They’ve also sent her food she’s allergic to, so there’s a total of six items she can’t have at all. Appalling.

The myth of the 'good gentrifier' needs to be challenged. They've had their chance. A 'Save Ridley Road' placard in your window doesn't absolve you. Their presence is the ultimate issue. Being critical of yourself or other gentrifiers isn't enough. Reconsider your location.

You know gentrification is too far gone when you got gentrifiers saying East London is synonymous with "bank of mum and dad" posh girls. Saying that, bet their 'East London' lies between Shoreditch and Victoria Park.
Have just been privileged to witness the most east London moment of my life. Spoken by a woman kayaking frantically down the Regent's canal towards a pedestrian on the towpath: "Oh my God. Francesca is that you? We met in Goa! At the breath workshop! Remember?"

Wow! I'm honoured to be nominated by my fellow actors alongside such inspiring performances, and am grateful to the Academy for their support and encouragement. I’m equally thrilled for our visionary writer-director Darius Marder and the brilliant Paul Raci...

You voted for a bill that lets undercover police officers off the hook for raping women.
Tonight I will light a candle for Sarah Everard. The whole country’s thoughts are with Sarah’s friends and family at this awful time. Violence against women and girls is still far too common. I will do everything I can to help make our streets safe and to end this injustice.

This country is not fit for purpose. The young are dissolutioned yet have no way to change things. The grievances of minority groups are ignored or downright denied. I feel utterly hopeless and sad at the state of our country and how unlikely change is.
The #ReclaimTheseStreets vigil is very emotional and cathartic.

Many many high profile voices are talking about women's safety this week, who have have largely remained silent in other cases... some in the past year alone. In the coming months that conversation will be had. Now is definitely not the time. But, it's coming.
