Happy 79th birthday, @usairforce! Since 1947, Airmen have secured the skies above our homeland and protected service members abroad, standing ready at a moment's notice. That same sense of duty is what MacDill Air Force Base and its Airmen bring to our community here in the Tampa Bay area. My father, Ed Dawson, enlisted in the Air Force before he married my mother, Sharon. My grandfather, Francis P. Griffin, also spent 26 years in uniform, including serving in the Korean War. Every Airman who has ever answered the call to serve, at MacDill and around the world, deserves our gratitude today and every day.
