As Gaza enters its fourth winter, thousands of families face another season of rain and cold in fragile tents and damaged buildings. With shelters deteriorating and vital equipment in short supply, heavy rain could turn already harsh living conditions into an even greater threat. A mother wrapping her child in a thin blanket as water seeps through torn plastic. A father trying to hold a leaking tent together. Children who have already lived through too much, now facing another winter of wet clothes, flooded floors, and nights too cold for sleep. This is not a distant headline. This is a family trying to keep a baby warm. This is an elderly person sitting in a damaged room that could collapse in the rain. This is people who have already lost homes, loved ones, and years of their lives, now being asked to survive the weather itself. Winter should not be another weapon. It should not decide who lives through the night. Let tents, tarpaulins, timber, and repair materials reach the people who need them. Let families have more than hope and a leaking roof. Let children have dry ground to sleep on. Gaza’s people are not numbers. They are mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters who deserve warmth, safety, and the chance to live through this winter with dignity. Do not look away.

Another day, another textbook example of “the most moral army in the world” doing security. Israeli state sponsored terrorists aka settlers raid Ad-Duqaiqah in the Yatta desert, try to steal livestock, and detain a young Palestinian man. The Israeli army arrives and, with the precision of a well-rehearsed routine, arrests eight Palestinians from the village. Because nothing says “law and order” like letting the people who showed up to take the sheep walk away, then cuffing the people whose sheep they came for. The settlers: armed, on someone else’s land, grabbing animals and a person. The villagers: living there, owning the livestock, somehow the suspects. The army: “complicated situation,” “both sides,” “we’re investigating.” If this happened anywhere else it would be called a robbery with military backup. Here it’s just another afternoon in Masafer Yatta, where the crime is existing on land someone else has already decided should be empty. Eight arrested. Livestock threatened. Young man detained by settlers. And the official story will still somehow be that this was about “security.” Security for whom, exactly?
