Do you remember those fairy tales about Meloni, the first woman PM in Italy, the far-right that was not so much far-right, the fact that the new government would not have infringed on people's rights....yes? Fairy tales indeed.

FYI @BBCSport @Michael_Emons Monza is not on the "northeastern outskirts of Milan" any more than Wolverhampton is on the outskirts of Birmingham. It's a separate city, admittedly nearby but very definitely not Milan. (I am writing from Monza 😅) bbc.co.uk/sport/football/683…

I find it utterly disgusting that the state can split up families and force kids to grow up away from their parents. The minimum income requirement for Brits to live with spouses & children should be scrapped entirely. Good thread here👇
Today, together with @MigrantVoiceUK @Praxis_Projects and @BritishInEurope, we publish a joint parliamentary briefing on the increase to the Minimum Income Requirement. 🧵 reunitefamiliesuk.co.uk/join…

A week after the Women’s World Cup and there’s a row about public sexual assault at the very top of the victorious football association. Just sit with that for a bit.

Rubiales speech - "did you really think I was going to resign over a peck" - is one of the most surreal moments in the history of football. Everything about this is quite mad and has brought immense shame upon Spanish football.

Lots of discussion lately about how to talk to/about men, & one thing I would BEG everyone to understand is that it is categorically NOT like this. One of the most damaging constructions of masculinity is that it is a test & if you fail you're not a "real" man. >
Real men struggle. Real men talk about their feelings. Real men ask for help.

Joy was definitely something missing in *my* mainstream UK schooling - a few ministers and educational leaders could do with going along to this.
London! Get to this. More brilliant work coming out of @RekindleSchool, led by the amazing @MsIbegbuna and driven by young people who want to see a different way of doing education - and are making it happen. It's free, and you'll likely find *yourself* getting an education...

It's a Conservative MP asking good questions of Braverman here. Don't believe for a second that this is a party political issue. It's a debate between humanity and cruelty.

I don't have much to add to the whole tipping in US/Europe discourse based on that thread, except to say that isn't it funny the *manager* came out and said to the customers "please could you pay my staff more?"

Every so often in the UK, we ask a Baroness to investigate whether the police should be reformed, or whether drugs should be decriminalised. And they say, "Yes." And we say, "We're not doing that."

Worth bearing in mind, this is what the BBC said to me in 2020 when Andrew Neil was being a shouty, right-wing pile on orchestrator on Twitter. Compare and contrast.

Gary Lineker has no need to apologise. As a youth movement for refugees, founded by Jews, we know all too well the devastating effects of hate speech and propaganda. We're often sceptical of comparisons to the Holocaust or Nazi Germany. Is it not a singular event? 1/7
