The good news: once you get a PhD, friends and family will refer to you as doctor. The bad news: They will only do it sarcastically after you get basic trivia wrong.

Swapped Cyprus this year for the (arguably superior) Jurassic coast. Complete with friendly mocking for my over-enthusiasm #geology #fossils #lulworthcrumple

I hope you’ll be able to make me look this good from the scans @RowanJackson1 @mickymicky06s
It was 1939 and this technology created 3D sculptures. It took decades later to duplicate this lost technology.

Sadly this is the closest to a #soil profile I’ve seen all year that hasn’t come from a computer model. A fossilised Devonian soil from Dunbar, East Lothian in honour of #WorldSoilDay

Lucky to have such excellent #geology on our doorstep, teaching landscape architects a crash course in the Carboniferous of Scotland. Nice to be out in the field again after a summer (mostly) indoors! – at Dunbar, Scotland

It's that time year again (not), missing the geology, students and sunshine but at least I won't have to worry about infected mosquitos bites... #fieldwork #throwback
First day in #Cyprus with @GeosciencesEd exploring the upper part of the ophiolitic succession. Moment of reverential silence had for the CY-4 borehole. #geology #fieldwork #sun
