Poor old woman feeding countless scavengers in garden: possums, raccoons, birds, chipmunks etc. Opinions largely those of my cat. Pics from house & garden.

🕷🕸'TIS THE SEASON🕸🕷
Female Araneus diadematus (Cross Orb Weaver Spider, Crown Orb Weaver) looks like she's heading for a treetop ambush, but she's really just Queen of the World outside my bathroom window!🎃 Highly variable native of both North America and Europe. Araneidae

#fall #October1st #sugarcane #growyourown I have been harvesting some of my sugarcane to give to friends. You can just stick a piece in the ground and it will grow, and in my zone it comes back every year. I like to cut it into pencil size pieces to chew on.

👨✈️ALLELOPATHY WARS! Zinnia violacea (Z. elegans), like related Helianthus annuus, is a well-known allelopathic, secreting substances from roots that inhibit other plants - can even kill Narcissus!😱 But so is invasive Acer platanoides (Norway Maple) - take a look at who wins!👩✈️
I would rush back and get several pots. Happy in pots inside or out in my opinion. Lovely colour.
Garden question🤔 Saw some beautiful potted calla lilies in garden centre. Are they worth buying now to keep indoors in 🇨🇦 ? I do not have a greenhouse #indoorplants #gardening #flowers

TRICKY TRANSPOSONS, those wily jumping pigment genes, a hallmark of broken-colored Zinnia violacea 'Peppermint Stick'. Variegation usually quite uniform, but flowerhead in pic 1 has decided to go half & half!😃 A beloved heirloom my Grandmother grew, now reselected. Asteraceae
Pagoda Dogwood now in the ground in a lovely shady spot. Thank you @organicgay
Excellent work Mr GFG!
We’ve grown a bit of comedy, wonky fruit & veg, but otherwise we’re pretty chuffed with this year’s harvest 👍

The sweetest perfumes in my fall garden come from the smallest flowers. Fragrant Tea Olive (Osmanthus fragrans) and Autumn Olive (Eleagnus).
Here is one of my Nephila silhouetted against the sky. Found in Japan, China etc., and north Georgia USA. I am honored to host them.
Really happy to find several web domains of Trichonephila clavata in my garden here in north Georgia. Amazing multi-dimensional web some of which includes my favorite shovel. No digging for me for a while then.
Looking forward. My Friday evening treat. Comfy chair. Large G&T and Gardeners World. Will be watching for that cardi.
You lucky people! You will get another chance to see my holey little cardi. Oh and the beautiful @RococoGarden again tonight! #gardenersworld 😊 #gardenhistory
