At the same time, we must start to look closely at what platforms, policymakers, and citizens can do to tackle the harmful and misleading online discourse we’ve seen over the last week. - Extremist Coordination: The protests are being organised by far-right Telegram channels linked to terrorist groups Atomwaffen Division (AWD) and National Action (NA).
- Active Clubs' Involvement: Accelerationist terrorist ideology from proscribed groups found in Active Club online networks, targeting immigration offices and asylum law firms.
- ‘Race War’ Agenda: Their aim is to escalate tensions and provoke a ‘race war’, counting on counter-protests to fuel clashes and disorder.
- Widespread Circulation: Identical target lists have been shared across far-right channels, urging attendees to "mask up" and distribute balaclavas.
- Post-Southport Strategy: Neo-Nazi groups are co-opting anti-migrant sentiment, which was spurred on by misinformation around the Southport attacker’s identity, to push their accelerationist ideologies.
- Infiltration and Radicalization: These networks seek to infiltrate less extreme groups, using private channels for strategic messaging and garner support. 2/4)
