We are calling on our community for support.
IAFF Local 3217 has spent years attempting to work collaboratively with MWAA to secure fair and competitive compensation for the firefighters who protect DCA and IAD every day.
Our brother, Captain Christopher Sanchez, recently lost his wife to breast cancer. We ask our union family and community to keep the Sanchez family in your thoughts and prayers and consider supporting them.
We stand with you, Chris.

25 years ago today, our world changed forever.
On 9/11, countless acts of courage and sacrifice unfolded at the WTC, Pentagon, Flight 93. Today, we solemnly remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and the thousands of first responders who ran toward danger
Today, we remember the fallen.
We honor the survivors.
We remember the families who were forever changed.
And we honor every first responder who answered the call that day and those who continue to carry the physical and emotional scars.

May we never forget.
On this 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, may we always remember, and never forget, the importance of that day for this nation and the firefighters who gave it all protecting their fellow citizens.

Happy Labor Day from IAFF Local 21!
Today, we honor the labor movement and the generations of working people who stood together to fight for fair wages, safe workplaces, dignity, and a better life for working families.
Have a safe and happy Labor Day!
Yesterday, IAFF Local 3217 members at @Reagan_Airport welcomed our brothers and sisters from IAFF Local 2800 for joint training.
Personnel conducted an aircraft familiarization covering key aircraft systems and hazards, discussed typical emergency operations at DCA.
T104, R101, and BC 101 practiced aircraft-specific access, including high-angle and Stokes operations.
With Arlington being the closest mutual aid resource at DCA, this training allows for both departments to understand each other’s capabilities @IAFF2800 @IAFFofficial

Labor Day is our day. Take time to recognize the contributions of a flying partner. Tell someone – thank you, it’s nice to work with you. The truth is, being together is the best part of our job. Happy Labor Day, Aviation’s First Responders!

Dramatic video posted by the Baltimore Firefighters’ union (IAFF local 734) shows the rescue of a person from a burning building in East Baltimore yesterday.
The union says ⬇️
“We know you hear our concerns about apparatus being placed out of service because of broken equipment. We say it time and time again: seconds count.
This video shows exactly what we mean, and why having properly staffed, properly equipped apparatus available matters.
This footage is from yesterday’s dwelling fire in the 2000 block of Boone Street in the 12th district of East Baltimore. With the proper ladders placed, the members of Truck 5 were able to remove a citizen from the burning dwelling.
Our members are here every single day, ready to protect the citizens of Baltimore. When someone is trapped inside a burning home, there is no time to spare. Every firefighter, every piece of equipment, and every second matters.
Seconds count. Readiness matters. Lives depend on it.”
