I may be reading too much into this statement, and I certainly hope I am wrong. But it is hard not to interpret it as suggesting that Netanyahu promised Trump another joint military operation against Iran in exchange for his political support.
In other words, Netanyahu may have effectively committed Israel to another war with Iran to secure his political future, regardless of the potential consequences.
If that is indeed the case, it would be an extraordinary and troubling revelation. Israel cannot afford another war with Iran driven by political calculations rather than a genuine national security necessity.

🚨🚨🚨Trump endorses Netanyahu ahead of the elections in a post on Truth Social:
To the Great People of Israel:
Bibi Netanyahu has been a Great Warrior Prime Minister, and an even greater Partner for Peace in combatting the Islamic Republic of Iran, with its 51 year old chant, “Death to Israel, Death to America! We will destroy the Little Satan and the Big Satan.” What Country can survive when things such as this are allowed to be said, because eventually, they always end up being true? It would have been only a question of time until Iran would have put that ominous phrase into effect, but they have been systematically destroyed, both Militarily and Financially, and unless they change their ways, rapidly, we will soon finish the job. If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so. Bibi Netanyahu has been Strong, Brave, and Brilliant in the face of tremendous opposition, including that coming from even Israel, itself. Despite all of that, he has endured and, in fact, he has thrived! I have watched Bibi under the most trying of times. Normal men or women in such situations would have wilted under the pressure — But Bibi did not wilt, he actually got stronger, and maintains that same Strength today. This is the kind of Partner that the United States of America is demanding of Israel, a Country for which it has done so much. Please let this Letter serve to represent my Complete and Total Endorsement of Bibi Netanyahu in his upcoming Race for Re-Election as Prime Minister of Israel. BIBI NETANYAHU WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN! Thank you for your attention to this matter.

🚨BREAKING: A diplomatic delegation comprising representatives from France, Belgium, and Poland came under attack by Israeli settlers while attending the olive harvest in the Palestinian village of Taybeh, in the occupied West Bank.
Footage appears to show Bernard Baudoux, mayor of Aulnoye-Aymeries in northern France, on the ground following the assault.
Masked Israeli settlers also smashed the windows of a Belgian consular vehicle and demanded identification documents.

Breaking and of paramount importance.
Europe is telling Israel in no uncertain terms: don't build E-1, and telling Israeli developers and financial institutions that if they take part in E-1, they risk grave consequences.
The EU Council Conclusions published today articulate the shared strategic policy of the EU, and are endorsed by the heads of state and governments of the 27 member states - and they single out E-1:
" The European Council urges Israel to immediately reverse the expansion of
settlements, which are illegal under international law,
including by withdrawing its tender for construction in the E1 area. It reiterates that businesses should not bid for construction contracts for E1 or other settlement developments and underlines the legal, economic and reputational consequences for
businesses and financial institutions participating in settlement construction, including
the risk of serious breaches of international law".
You're not imagining. This is also endorsed by Germany, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic - those countries who are traditionally very cautious in these matters.
The die is cast. The bidding period in the tenders for the first 1,234 residential units end three days from now, on October 19.
The Netanyahu Regime will not balk.
Whether lIsraeli developers and financial institutions will risk sanctions and participate in the bidding remains to be seen.

What’s happening in Venezuela is basically Odebrecht 2, except instead of one big construction company doing bribery and procurement fraud, it’s a hundred little MAGA grifters who hung out at Mar-a-Lago and the Kennedy Center
The feud between Trump’s close allies is part of a long-running battle among the MAGA crowd for a share of the spoils in Venezuela, whose resource riches are now effectively under American control.

No Palestinian Progress, No Saudi-Israeli Normalization
If President Trump wants to advance normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia after the Israeli elections, he will have to put significant pressure on the next Israeli government to make meaningful progress on the Palestinian issue.
With all due respect to whatever assistance Israel may or may not provide Saudi Arabia in its confrontation with the Houthis, the Palestinian issue cannot simply be brushed aside. It remains a fundamental political and strategic consideration for Riyadh, particularly given the importance of Saudi public opinion.
Saudi Arabia’s response to the recent Emirati fly dubai incident only underscored just how far we remain from normalization.
If Trump is serious about achieving a historic breakthrough between Jerusalem and Riyadh, he will need to push the next Israeli government toward substantial, credible, and irreversible steps in the direction of a two-state solution, including meaningful implementation of the political vision outlined in his own Peace to Prosperity plan.
This cannot be limited to vague promises, symbolic gestures, or another diplomatic process with no clear destination. Riyadh will need to see tangible changes on the ground and a credible political horizon for the Palestinians.
The bottom line is simple: No matter what happens in Yemen, and regardless of the extent of Israeli-Saudi security cooperation, normalization will remain out of reach without meaningful progress on the Palestinian issue.
Military cooperation may bring Israel and Saudi Arabia closer strategically, but it cannot substitute for the political decisions necessary to make normalization possible.

“Civilization” is one of the favorite words of these sorts of politicians, more committed to supremacy than to democracy. But, as a rallying cry of the American right, it’s language that rings more hollow by the day, given the excesses of the past two years, the brutalization of migrants and protesters, the bullying of weaker countries, the repeated turns to unprovoked war and displays of force, and the garishness of an Administration that plans to live-stream a public execution later this year. Sebastian Gorka, a White House official focussed on counterterrorism, told the audience in Jerusalem that right-wing forces find themselves “in a war between civilization and barbarity.” He may not be on the side he thinks he is.

All, here is my assessment of the dangers of our current U.S.-China relationship centered on strategic competition, the benefits of moving to a relationship keyed to constructive strategic stability, and a program for achieving the latter. I reject the transformational nature of the Xi-Trump detente and call for leaders on both sides to begin the hard work of gradually building a relationship based on stability and mutual benefit, not competition. Competition will remain, but needs to be placed within a larger constructive strategy. Peaceful coexistence via intense strategic competition with guardrails is not enough. It will not remove the growing dangers of the current policy. Please read and RT. I hope a sensible and civil discussion on this viewpoint can emerge. Thanks.

Re-upping this assessment, which our team had presented to a stakeholder back in April.
We've gone from ceasefire to framework deal to prolonged limbo and now we are heading for a new round of fighting.
You'll notice that we had not included a pathway from a prolonged limbo back into a framework deal. The U.S. rejection of Iran's proposal during UNGA suggests this was the right call.
The longer the limbo continues, the greater the deficit of trust and the greater the number of complicating factors. I wouldn't put the odds of a new interim deal at zero, but they aren't much higher.
This is a slide from a briefing I gave back in April that set out why the crisis in the Gulf is likely to persist. A few key assessments:
1. A return to conflict has been more likely than a framework deal.
2. If a framework deal is achieved, a prolonged limbo is as likely as achieving a full agreement.
3. If the U.S. and Iran find themselves in a prolonged limbo without a comprehensive agreement, they are highly likely to end up fighting a second war.
The ceasefire has held up without a framework deal longer than I expected, but Trump is clearly trapped in an escalatory cycle of his own making.
Iranian leaders have gamed this out and understand that further fighting is the likeliest outcome. Trump has given them no reason not to act accordingly.

Jonathan “support-for-Israel-is-central-to-US Jewish-identity-&-denying-this-is-antisemitism” Greenblatt now argues, in effect, that speaking negatively about the months-long very public efforts to make Israel & Jewish votes THE deciding issue in a key Senate race is antisemitic.
Reducing Jewish voters' motivation to one presumed issue is unfair at best and plays into the classic antisemitic trope of dual loyalty at worst. The retributive and threatening nature of this post is shocking. The fact that it comes from an ostensibly mainstream political consultant demonstrates the utter insensitivity of so many to Jewish anxiety and the double standards to which Jewish people are held.

Israel Must Tread Carefully as Ethiopia and Eritrea Move Closer to War
As tensions between Ethiopia and Eritrea continue to escalate, Israel must approach the possibility of another war in the Horn of Africa with strategic caution.
There should be little doubt about where Israel's strategic sympathies lie. The depth of Israel's historical, strategic, and cultural ties with Ethiopia is simply incomparable to its relationship with Eritrea, which has deteriorated dramatically in recent years. Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki has fundamentally shifted his approach toward Israel while significantly strengthening his country's relationship with Iran.
From Israel's perspective, Ethiopia is clearly the more important strategic partner. But supporting Ethiopia and openly taking its side in a regional war are two very different things.
Israel cannot afford to ignore the broader regional implications of a potential conflict, particularly its impact on Egypt. Cairo increasingly views Ethiopia as a strategic rival, not least because of the longstanding dispute over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and the broader competition for influence in the Horn of Africa.
The more openly Israel aligns itself with Addis Ababa, the more likely it is to reinforce Egyptian suspicions about Israel's regional intentions. This is particularly dangerous at a time when Israeli-Egyptian relations are already experiencing one of their most difficult periods in decades.
Moreover, a war between Ethiopia and Eritrea is unlikely to remain a strictly bilateral conflict. Its consequences could extend across the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region, drawing in other regional actors.
Egypt and Sudan could align with Eritrea, while forces loyal to Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) in Sudan, and potentially Somaliland, could find themselves supporting Ethiopia. Such alignments are not inevitable, but they illustrate how quickly a localized confrontation could evolve into a broader regional struggle.
For Israel, this creates a complicated strategic dilemma. On the one hand, an Ethiopian victory would better serve Israeli interests, particularly given Addis Ababa's strategic importance and Eritrea's growing ties with Tehran. On the other hand, overt Israeli support for Ethiopia could further undermine relations with Egypt, an essential pillar of Israel's regional security architecture.
The bottom line: Israel has a clear strategic preference in a potential Ethiopia-Eritrea conflict. But having a preferred outcome does not mean Israel should become publicly involved in achieving it.
Jerusalem should preserve and strengthen its strategic partnership with Addis Ababa while avoiding unnecessary public involvement that could deepen tensions with Cairo or entangle Israel in another regional conflict.
This is a classic case in which Israel must prioritize strategic wisdom over the temptation to openly demonstrate where it stands.
Israel's interests may favor Ethiopia, but its broader regional interests require caution, restraint, and a careful understanding of the consequences for its relationship with Egypt.
Had a fruitful and constructive call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel to deliberate upon bilateral relations and key regional developments, reaffirming our commitment to cooperation on matters of mutual interest.
