Why are we growing like this?
We are the only shipper-facing company with 50-50 focus on Freight Services and Shipper SaaS/AI (50-50 is actually our Gross Profit split).
We believe the winning strategy for the next 5-10 years is a combination of Freight Services and Technology Offerings (AI + Systems of Records). And that's what we have been building for a while.
If you are an Enterprise Shipper and want to understand how you can improve operations dramatically, check us out at Loadsmart.com and Loadsmart.com/ai
We move loads ourselves. We build technology ourselves. That's the counterpart you feel comfortable talking to.

I believe in the shared economy where, through technology, we join forces to make freight transport more efficient enabling a responsible way to bring products to consumers.

Most startups start in a garage (e.g., Apple Google). @Loadsmart started in my living room in New York. Our co-founder @FCapella a stayed in my living room for the 1st year. Others including our lead designer and engineer stayed with me for a bit. #scrappy #bootStrapping.

Trucking and the #supplychain is the pulse of our country 🇺🇸. While it's great to see the US add 4.8M jobs in June, it's even better to see net new orders of 16,000 Class 8 trucks, up over 20% YOY!

Dynamics are the opposite of B2C. Supply (truckers) in the freight marketplace have more in common with demand (consumers) on B2C platforms like Airbnb. With reversed dynamics, the approach of "seeding the supply" that has worked for B2C platforms is less viable in freight
Loadsmart retweeted
The "supply first" approach forces the marketplace to scale in unsustainable ways. To keep the supply engaged, the broker has to make sure there is a lot of demand. To do that, they have to offer the demand artificially low pricing so the demand is tempted to use the platform
Loadsmart retweeted
Scaling in this way prioritizes growth over efficiency. For software, this playbook can work. For tech-enabled business models, it ignores unit economics. We are starting to see this strategy backfire in the market today

We cannot afford to make that mistake in freight. Now more than ever we see the value of durable supply chains. Over 7mm American jobs are tied to freight and truck driving is the no.1 job in 29 states. It would be irresponsible to force a correction for the sake of growth
Loadsmart retweeted
With 7m+ jobs in the US, the freight industry is too important to artificially inflate. As a B2B marketplace, freight brokers face unique dynamics. Scaling a digital freight platform requires a different approach from those used in B2C

Hate to see layoffs at Uber Freight. What's good them is good for all of us. Still, there was concern for a while about the sustainability of their model
Thought this was too obvious to publish when I first joined Loadsmart, but it seems relevant now
